A story following a different outcome of Neocolai's Fear the Soulless, Wraiths and Night (but never fear me):
In which Gil-Galad reacts to Elrond's attempted waterfall jump more physically than he intends to, striking Elrond without a second thought. Having lost so much family to the silmarils Elrond understands now that fate would have the rings steal his friends, as well.
He sees no point in watching Middle Earth's downfall play out.

The forge was warm. Blazingly, blissfully warm. Firelight flickered from the massive hearth in the corner, casting gold against copper and steel. Tables were cluttered with tools and half-sculpted pieces of wire and glass. Nothing matched. Everything gleamed. It looked like someone had tried to build the inner workings of the world and then remembered halfway through that he wasn’t a god.
And, by the time the sodden stranger made her way inside, there was a single workbench cleared off with a bottle of wine and two glasses.

Summary
No matter how dark things got in his life, Celebrimbor had one point of light: his wife Vinyáre who stayed at his side throughout almost all the first age and most of the second age. She was the only one who could pull him away from his work, even when Annatar tried to keep him in the smithy to finish the Rings of Power.
After losing him to the Dark Lord because Celebrimbor sent her and their twins Melion and Aendis away to protect them from Sauron's grasp, the ellon determined to keep them safe. Vinyáre leaves for Valinor with the little bits of family she still has left and reunites with her parents, mother-in-law and grandmother-in-law.
Spending the next few centuries patiently waiting for him to return to her and their children from the halls of Mandos, Vinyáre is determined to stay strong and look after her family and try to stay true to the little title her husband had given her:

“Tyelpe…” the younger gasped his name when Celebrimbor climbed onto the bed. His legs trembled a little when he placed himself between them and softly said. “Let me see you. I can take care of you, Starlight. Calm down and relax…” Celebrimbor is about to bend down and put his face between the herald’s legs like he loves to do, but then, Elrond gathers all the self-control he has at the moment and brings both of his knees together, closing the path for the elder’s face.
Someone wants to play.
“H-hmm… You made me wait, Tyelperinquar…”

She marvelled at the beauty of the brand new ring as it rested in her palm. She could feel the power flowing from it, the iridescent blue reflecting in her eyes. It was nothing less than intoxicating. Shelob tore her eyes away at the sweet smell of blood. The ranger was gasping for lost breaths as he reached a hand to his neck. It took only a moment for his knees to buckle and send him to the ground. His lungs fought desperately to breathe, coughing blood as the puddle underneath him grew ever bigger.
"Yes, he must mean something to you.. But do you matter as much, I wonder?"
(Aka: A retelling of Shadow of War. 5 years late but who cares! The ending broke my dead heart, so now I gotta correct things. The story has the same beginning points, but added drama, angst, feels, fluff, character development, and imma have a lot of fun giving Talion a back story.)
