It wasn’t every day Snotlout stared death in the face; saw its rotting bones and hollow eyes. Alright sure, maybe he did see glimpses of its tall shadow looming around when a fall left him reeling longer than usual, or when arrows whizz by, too close for comfort; Hel, he’d taken direct hits from lightning! straight to the head no less! But that was to be expected when he signed up for the job, when he first bonded with Hookfang. So yes, he did come close to death more times than he’d prefer but really, nothing compares to the time he felt its frigid touch.

Snotlout let out a sigh of relief when the riders finally left Berk to get back to the Edge.
They hadn’t stayed that long. They just had a routine check-up with the A-Team, and Hiccup had to speak with their chief about something super important, no doubt.
So overall a very short three-day visit. But three days was more than enough for Spitelout to let his displeasure about his son be known.

Snotlout falls into a panic about something his father said and Hookfang knows just what to do.

The runes glowed brighter, casting long shadows across the hall. Images began to ripple within the light, scenes forming like reflections on water. The Nadder shifted uncomfortably beside the Night Fury and the other dragons of their ‘group,’ glancing from the Night Fury to the images. “What is this supposed to mean?” she asked, her voice sharp, though there was a flicker of unease in her tone. The Night Fury found himself relating to it. “It means we’re trapped here, obviously,” the Nightmare snapped, his wings twitching irritably. “And they’re going to force us to watch this.. whatever this is.”
OR: the dragons (and some others) are brought to a strange hall to watch strange moving pictures showcasing the future of the isle they had just attempted to raid under the queen’s command— narrated by the very scrawny viking boy who managed to shoot down the elusive night fury, an act that would change both factions forever.

Everyone knew Snotlout wasn’t one to show his soft side. He was always stubborn and ignorant. He never admits when he is hurt, mentally or physically. Always claims it was ‘well-deserved’ or whatever excuse he could come up with. Whether it be a dragon bite or some hurtful words. Much like his dragon, he always wants to be seen as strong and independent. But there was only one thing, well person, that could crush his confidence: his father, Spitelout.
