Most of the plot remains as the Choices play through (some changes/additions I made), so if you are reading the story and would prefer not to be spoiled, don't read this first lol.

His rifle has gotten into a rythm of shot after shot, the clunk of the bullet firing is almost comforting. The bots keep coming, and the effort is breathtaking.
After a few more shots, a faint click reaches his ears. He tries to fire again—click.

Keith and Lance are given a mission: sneak into the base, retrieve the orb, and leave without causing any casualties, simple enough right? That's what they both thought, but boy were they wrong.

“Coran, what’s happening?” Lance didn’t like how Shiro's voice shook. Was something wrong with the wormhole?
“The integrity of the wormhole has been compromised,” Coran yelled. “We’re breaking down!”
Lance sucked in a breath, eyes wide. Compromised? Breaking down? “What does that mean?!” He asked into the comms.
“It means we have no control where we’re headed!”

Lance stopped mid-step, his hand brushing the frame of the hallway entrance as he glanced back over his shoulder. Keith was still watching him, his gaze steady now, expectant but not demanding.
‘Lance,’ He replied simply, the name falling from his lips like an offering.

Lance has built a good life: a loving family, loyal friends, supportive clients, and his spirited five-year-old daughter. But being a single dad navigating the chaos of life after a divorce isn’t always easy.

Lance looked up at Keith, his blue eyes searching for something in his face. Keith’s heart gave an unexpected jolt, but he didn’t let it show. Instead, he slowly rested his head against Lance’s, both of them turning their attention to the sunset as it deepened in color. Keith couldn’t hold Lance’s gaze for too long.
"Okay," Lance murmured, shifting to get more comfortable against Keith.
Lance stared out at the horizon. "Everything’s so beautiful out here."
“It is,” Keith agreed, his voice quieter now.
(What if Lance had froze and couldn’t ask Allura out on a date in Season 8, Episode 1? This is my take on fixing Voltron and writing what I believe should have happened.)

( This was all inspired by the book Sorcery and Small Magics by Maiga Doocy! I read that book and was immediately hooked! The dynamic reminded me so much of Lance and Keith with the rivalry I NEEDED to write a fic with this concept inspired by it)
