Nightingale finally gets Chief to say the obvious thing between them out loud. Due to their own emotional constipation, and workplace relationships being highly criticized, they enter an undefined relationship. However, this doesn’t stop Nightingale from subtly laying her claim on Chief in front of the Sinners. After some back and forth in ways that fly right over Chief’s head, an agreement is made: She is willing to share, if she’s present to keep an eye on the process and if no one overstays their welcome.

Chief turns at the unexpected voice. Raven lounges against the doorway, trademark emerald quill in hand, her signature inky-familiar surprisingly absent. The poet propels herself into the room and starts to talk before she can say anything.
“Burning the midnight oil already? I can't say the work ethic doesn't suit you, but what on Earth will I tell Nightingale when she asks if I'm making sure you take care of yourself?”
“That,” Chief says defensively, “is not what I'm doing. I just got distracted going over the lesson plan for tomorrow again, that's all. And besides, it's not midnight. It's not even that late.”

Summary
The black bird follows her out of the bedroom into the study, flapping its wings four or five times until its claws touch the surface of her desk. Despite its evident struggle in its multitasking, it never ceases its song. However, its bird’s lung capacity is failing. The difficult melodic climax has it shrieking without abandon. Vautour Bleu winces. When the melody finishes, she couldn’t bring herself to clap; Raven has made a travesty of the original tune. She regrets selling her gramophone, but she is rather fond of her new alarm clock.
OR
Every morning, Vautour Bleu wakes up to the warbling of one of Raven’s ravens.
