Ben can’t help but let his eyes wander down to the man's hands. They look big and strong from where they’re neatly folded in the man’s lap and Ben resolutely bites down on any innuendo threatening to claw its way up his throat, knowing it’s only going to worsen this situation. If this guy is really going to be following him around for the foreseeable future, he better at least try to be civil with him.
He has the feeling it’s going to be a long few weeks.

Getting a job at the university here in Walford right after graduating had been more about luck and that one professor who believed in him than anything else and he seriously adores his job. He loves his colleagues, the department he works in and - with some very few exceptions - the students.
The only thing he could do without is Ben Mitchell.

Summary
All is as it is according to canon up to October 2020 except NO CALLUM. No Stuart either, and no ludicrous attempt to kill Keanu the previous Christmas. Oh, and Walford East is a much bigger restaurant. And I’ve taken a few liberties with Callum’s backstory and maybe a few others. Okay, so this might be a bit canon divergent 😊.
Ben is sent down for his part in the warehouse robbery and, in his absence, Callum arrives in Walford with his little backpack to take up the position of head chef at Walford East. And then, more than a year and a half later, Ben comes home ….

Summary
Callum is in the perfect relationship with his gorgeous paramedic boyfriend Simon. Since leaving the army, he has had a variety of jobs and is currently a delivery driver deciding what else he can do. He needs a change. Simon thinks he would be a great police officer but Callum isn’t sure; his background is less than squeaky clean. A series of events leads to him meeting the irrepressible Frankie and between them they solve a problem for Callum’s ex, Whitney. This prompts Callum to set up as a private investigator which throws him into the path of the infamous Mitchell family.

Summary
The door to the Queen Vic flew open and Iqra stood there looking panicked as she yelled “There’s a fire at the Slater’s!”
Ben and Mick only had to meet eyes for a second before they were both launching for the door. Because it wasn’t like Callum to be late, and somehow they both knew that his brother wasn’t the reason. If Callum had been walking to the Vic from Turpin Road, he would have seen the Slater house from across the Square.
2020 goes out with a bang, and a breakdown.

Summary
I really hated the Martin Ben gangster storyline of autumn 2019. I know Ben came back hardened and vengeful earlier that year, but the gangster stuff was all too much. So I have rewritten the story from October 2019 to March 2020. I have included some EE scenes and dialogues as I wanted to keep touching base with the EE storyline. I tried to keep Ben and Martin in character as much as I could, developed stories for Callum and Bobby, suggested Phil’s redemption arc, added some interest to other characters like Louise, Lola, Jay and Ruby, and, of course, focused on the greatest love story ever told – Ben and Callum.
I wrote this during compassionate leave when my lovely mum passed away. It’s probably why it’s a bit light on angst and heavy on fluff. It’s also littered with little bits of her wisdom because I was thinking about her a lot. The title comes from one of her favourite sayings; you’ll come across it in the story.

Ben has two types of angry, that Callum knows of. There's horny-angry Ben; when something has pissed him off and all he wants to do is fuck until he can't think straight any more. But then there's self-destructive-angry Ben. This one Callum can never work out- he usually just has to deal with the aftermath of it. This is the angry Ben where he's so furious at the world, all he can do is just self-destruct.
