“Closest thing I could reach,” Ratthi says, sounding strangely cheerful. “Incidentally, you can actually bite off part of someone’s ear if you’re trying hard enough. Volescu was wrong about that one.”
“I don’t think Volescu ever said anything about ears.” Once they’d gotten on jaw augments, the conversation had gone off the rails pretty quickly. If it had ever been on the rails to begin with. Which it hadn’t.
It’s difficult to imagine Ratthi biting someone’s ear off. It’s also difficult to imagine Ratthi choking someone into unconsciousness, and Gurathin’s pretty sure that one also happened.
When Gurathin volunteered to keep Ratthi company on the shuttle, he wasn't expecting the shuttle to get stolen with them on it. He wasn't expecting their captors to be both violent and idiots, and he really wasn't expecting the part where Ratthi bit someone holding an energy weapon.
This would all be so much easier if he had augmented jaws.

Summary
Planets are dumb and dangerous, but at this point I'd argued— okay, more like complained— complargued so many times that nobody except ART was still willing to argufy back.
(That stands for argue-pacify, in case it isn't obvious. I think it's not obvious. And no, I hadn't forgiven ART yet for saying I needed pacifying.)
Anyway, I was currently complarguing from my seat in the back of the snow-capable bot-driven transport heading out to the middle of nowhere, so I had the sneaking suspicion I'd lost the fight.
Murderbot accompanies its humans on a winter vacation. Then the storm hits.

“Oh, good, SecUnit,” Ratthi said over his shoulder. “Here.” He stood, something small cradled in his hands, a soft little smile on his face.
It was a plant. A very small plant, in a small clay pot that looked hand-painted. Ratthi held it out to me.
“It was a gift from Volescu. Isn’t it precious?” I’ll admit, it kind of was. “But I’m worried it’ll get dropped, or crushed, or —“ he gestured at the large numbers of humans and augmented humans around, many of whom were visibly intoxicated and exhibiting reduced physical coordination. “I was hoping you’d take care of it for me.”
He had a good point; parties were dangerous. I accepted the pot. It was lighter than I expected, and the little plant (which I designated Flora One) quivered with the movement.
Ratthi smiled at Flora One again, and said, “I have to go. The band’s about to start. But I think… If you put a chair over there,” and he nodded to a shadowy area just inside the enclosed part of the tent, “you should be able to see the band and keep away from other people.” He nodded meaningfully. “So that the plant is safe.”
MB (self-designated babysitter) gets kidnapped by fauna and sat on. How the turns have tabled.

Summary
Let’s start with the good part.
I accidentally helped Three (who was also helped by Ratthi and Bharadwaj) invent trauma recovery modules for murderbots. ART unhelped at first, but then it helped. I keep saying help too much but I’m not fucking changing it again, it’s been two hours. Anyways.
The bad part is everything else that had to happen first. Sane people shouldn’t get anywhere near a SecUnit’s worst memories, which is what we did so you don’t have to. Though I guess if you need the modules, you do have to. That’s kind of the point.Well, don’t worry about all the atrocities. There’s no way yours can be worse than mine.
