Summary
One moment Lance was there, jumping and reaching for Keith’s outstretched hand as the cavern collapsed around them. And in the next he was gone, falling into the abyss. Just like that.
And no matter how much Keith, Hunk and Shiro desperately search through the rubble as they descend into the unstable cave, they can’t find him. And as minutes tick to hours and they go further and further down reality tells them it’s not a search and rescue mission any longer.
It’s a body retrieval.

Final Fic:(80) Follow You Home: Voltron is heading home. Except, for Keith, the destination of Earth isn’t his home. There’s no one waiting for him there. And, he tries to tell himself, that it’s not like the space family he'd made up here with Voltron would abandon him as they go seek out their own loved ones on Earth. But he’s so used to being left behind so why should this time be any different? Fortunately, Pidge is right there to remind Keith just how much he belongs with all of them.

“The safety of the child is the state’s first concern,” the lawyer says neutrally.
“Great. Give me an address and twenty minutes, then, and I’ll bring him right home.”
The lawyer’s voice is steely. “He is home, with a lovely young couple who are happy to have him.”
“There is a lovely young couple who he is related to and whom he has familiarity with right here,” Shiro grits out. “Tell me where my brother is.”

“Oh, nothing,” Shiro says, distractedly pushing around his goo. He sounds blasé, unbothered, but Keith recognises this tone of his, as rare as it is to hear it — the passive aggressiveness, the snooty way he speaks when he’s too furious to even yell, and just wants to make everyone around him feel stupid. “I just figured the person who abandoned her infant son without so much as a note is someone of the more irresponsible and immature variety. That’s all.”
Lance, who has never been capable of handling tenseness, stands abruptly and starts gathering the bowls and utensils of everyone at the table, regardless of whether they’re finished. Keith watches distantly as he quiets Pidge’s whining, firmly telling her to get up and bring it with her if she needs.
“She’s my mother,” Keith says through grit teeth. He pulls his gaze away from the red paladin, glaring at his brother. “I thought you’d be happy for me.”
Shiro finally looks up from his stupid goo, baring his teeth in a poor imitation of a smile.
“Thrilled,” he drawls.

Summary
They didn't mean for this to be a problem. Shiro and Keith were just trying to pick some berries for Hunk's experimental pie. Unfortunately, a creep with eyes for the red paladin heard news of Voltron landing.
Keith gets hurt by Shiro, all his pleads hadn't effected him, might be because it wasn't actually Shiro.
Even after knowing that, Keith doesn't think he'd be able to easily be around Shiro again. Not for a while at least. Shiro understands though, and Lance helps put him back together

Shiro loves them very much but god they are just teenagers.

Shiro looked up, terror making his movements jerky, fragmented, and saw for the first time in front of him a throne grander than any he’d ever seen, woven together with bones and skulls and ash, studded with gold and diamond. The flames of the torches soared, burning brightly, blinding white in the blackness of the cave, illuminating on the throne skin of bleached bone, eyes of crimson rubies, and a crown of blood and marrow, dripping in rivulets down his face.
Hades.
Shiro did not know how he knew the god, from where the certainty came, but he was sure: in front of him, giant in stature and horrifying in posture, the god of death and dying and riches sit before him.

Summary
On a superficial level, he knew his friends didn’t hate him. How could they? It was Lance they were talking about, he was basically unhateable. Even though he knew this like the back of his hand, he couldn’t help but feel like it was all a lie. A less-than-truth all for the sake of keeping him from breaking down. No one wants to deal with that situation, especially not Lance. It was so much easier to bottle it all up and pretend you never felt it in the first place.
Maybe if he pretended for long enough, he’d actually start feeling like everything was okay.
