Summary
Catching wind of a free punk show being put on by a no-name Heywood streetkid band, Johnny decides to check it out. Fuck, not like he’s got anything else going on with Samurai being on hiatus and Kerry actively dodging his calls.
What he doesn’t expect is for the front man of the no-name punk band to be the same damn Latino hunk that give him and Kerry a preem lap dance at Dicky Twisters for Kerry’s birthday. Nor does he expect the kid to have the absolute set of lungs that he displays as he dances around in the dirt with his band.
But now that he knows this, Johnny decides he’s gotta know more. It might end up with him biting off more than he can chew, however.

Mixed feelings about this one... Still does not like that it was suicide that got us the happy ending. I also think/feel that N should be more angry with Tessa and not immediately "forgiving her" i guess...? I do love the concept that Tessa got her memories back first and have been asking how N was doing. Also like the mentioning of V's fear of abandonment because she was not "with" N during their last lifetime.
Wish the fic was longer... so we could see how their new life formed, also fresh-out the re:discovery of their memories and the new relationship with Tessa & J.
Though I get that that was not the point/intention of the fic.Even tough it was not my favorite fic(by a long shot), I would still rec this.

"So you're just gonna walk out, huh. Real mature, babe, real fucking mature."
Nothing. V's shoulders are tense, but he doesn't turn around. Like Kerry's a fly.
"You wanna sulk! Fucking sulk then! Sit out there like a coward! Enjoy the cig, I hope you fucking choke on it!"
Nothing, again. V ashes his cigarette into the pool. The silence between them is too big. Too loud. And Kerry can't-he can't let it sit there.
"Hit me!"
It rips out of his chest like a reflex. Sharp enough to startle. Whiskey burn all the way down his throat.
The words hang, awful and echoing.
"What?"

Then, V softly cups Kerry's face in both hands. Real gentle. Trained fingers pressing Kerry’s nose, then the tender bits under each eye socket, the high points of his cheekbones, the tension under his jaw.
Then, without a real warning, he slips two fingers into Kerry’s parted lips. Palpating near the back molars like he’s checking for something.
Kerry huffs, “What? You want head? Heh, not quite ready for round two yet.”
V just looks at him like he’s grown a second head, “I hit you with my chrome hand, Angel. Just checking all ya teeth are still in check.”

“Just a couple questions, please! How does someone like you end up with legendary Eurodyne?”
And that has him halting in place, so fast that Alicia has to scramble to a stop to not run into him. “You wanna rephrase that?” he hisses, temper rising, because, fuck, did she hit a soft spot."

"V, half-dressed in baggy sweatpants, is stood at his electric stove panel and cooking… eggs? He’s bouncing along with the music, some high-octane heavy-energy metal he’s pumping through the wired-in speakers. Kerry watches as he grabs for a spatula, shuffles something around the pan, and when he looks up and catches sight of Kerry, the grin that V offers steals the rocker’s breath for a moment.
“Morning, baby!” he greets. “Coffee’s finished brewin’. Hope I didn’t wake you up.” He nods his head to the full coffee pot, eyes flashing as he lowers the volume.
“Good morning,” Kerry greets, soft smile lighting up his face. He paces the room to kiss V, the merc happily returning the kiss. Deciding that coffee can wait just a moment longer, he wraps his arms around V’s waist and nuzzles against his back with a happy sigh, dropping his chin onto V’s shoulder. He feels more than hears the warm chuckle that rolls through him."

V pauses mid-scoop, head tilting slightly, like he has to remind himself of the answer. “Uh, twenty-seven. Twenty-eight this year,” he says finally. Then taps his temple with two chrome fingers, smiles, “If ol’ Johnny allows it.”
And, oh, that hits Kerry like a sucker punch.
Kerry tells himself he’s too old for this gut drop. But there it is. Tight in his chest, hot in his throat. And, fuck, if he don’t feel like a goddam cradle snatcher.
The number rings in his head, same as it used to when Johnny would grin at him under the stage lights and swear he’d live forever.
