Yoshi could see them still, the soft, gentle features of his wife and the beauty their daughter inherited from her. He could practically feel still the way her hand fell over his forearm, warm and knowing. How their child felt nestled in his arms. Their smiles had been so beautiful.
He didn’t even have a moment to say goodbye.
A small hand fell on top of his quivering snout. His eyes blinked open to see one of the turtle creatures staring back at him. Behind it, the three others were staring as well. Their tiny, dark eyes set in impossibly full cheeks blinked with concern.
Despite it all, Yoshi found himself with a gentle, unsure smile.
( or: splinter is suddenly a dad again after the loss of his wife and child and he has no idea if he's ready for it, but his immediate love for the four tiny turtle babies thrust into his care is not going to give him a chance to rethink )

Summary
Draxum researches human behavior in a disguise to make sure his plans will go well, and meets Hamato Yoshi. The two grow closer as Draxum carries out his plans alongside 'gathering intel', until Yoshi one day goes missing. Draxum is distraught, but he continues the other part of his plan of looking for a champion while searching for his partner. He discovers Lou Jitsu, a prime candidate and takes him away, and when cannon events happen and a now mutated Lou Jitsu runs away from the burning lab, Draxum realizes where his missing love has been. He dawned his disguise once more and followed Lou Jitsu, and comforts his partner and helps him raise these turtles while secretly carrying out his plans as Baron Draxum.
