Summary
Splinter has had his four sons for a year now. He’s been adjusting well enough he thinks, what with the grief of his wife and daughter still looming over his head.
Then something happens during a supply run, something he never expected. He finds another mutant turtle, just like the ones back home.
Except he’s different.
And Splinter feels an overwhelming sense that he doesn’t belong here.
Even so, he does his best to raise him as his own.

His fingertips traced the glossy pages as he flipped through the book, the chaos of his mind calming instantly. His favorite painters, the greats whose names sounded like music to him, were all here: Leonardo, the master of secrets; Raphael, whose Madonnas pulled at his heart; Donatello, whose sculptures seemed alive; and Michelangelo, the divine perfectionist.
For a ninja heir, a book like this was a distraction; for Yoshi, it was oxygen. Deep down, Yoshi knew he’d never be able to fulfil his dream of creating art, not in this universe anyways. Perhaps, in his future, he can name a son after one of his favorite artists.

He had let himself become entrapped in the matters of the heart which led to his literal entrapment under the power of the one he had come to deeply love - the one known as Big Mama.
He had never before felt like this - had never before considered the possibility of opening up his heart to another ever since the tragic death of his mother, who vanished before his eyes when he was but a young boy, to join so many before her in their ancestral battle against the forces of evil.
And that was what led him here - a man no more, but a monster (at least in his eyes).

He misses his own father, and when he tries to call upon him he's sent to the body of himself in another time, where his sons are still so much smaller than him. He wishes those times came back for himself. He feels horrible knowing he left them, but grows to find these boys are much like his own. He wonders if his other self is treating his sons how he wants to.
Or,
Splinter (03) tries to use his limited knowledge of magic to summon his own father. He desperately wishes to see Hamato Yoshi once more, and meditating isn't cutting it anymore. He ends up in Splinter (2k12)'s body, as he was originally Hamato Yoshi in his timeline.
Splinter finds that the 2k12 turtles are much like his own sons and hopes that 2k12 Splinter is treating his sons well in his universe. Spoiler; he isn't.
