Summary
When only child and mystery enthusiast Dipper Pines is sent by his parents to Gravity Falls as an early birthday gift he writes off his whole summer as ruined until he finds an old journal in the woods. Suddenly a new face with a strange triangular birthmark around her eye appears and seems a little too invested to his new found journal. Now it's up to Dipper and a small group of friends from the falls to figure out who she is and what she wants with the journal as they work to uncover its mysteries.

The metal plate in Ford's head shielded his mind enough to prevent Bill Cipher from gaining access. And as an added side effect, it also provided enough shielding to protect his mind from the effects of Fiddleford's memory gun.
It did not, however, provide perfect protection against his forgotten prototype. Which was more powerful, but far less precise. Like comparing a scalpel to a chainsaw.
The metal plate provided enough protection that Ford only lost his most recent memories. And both Stanley and Fiddleford had already proven that it was possible to retrieve those memories with some work. There was no reason to be overly upset about a mere accident.
But since his last memories were of him and his brother at sea a few months after Weirdmageddon, Ford was left dealing with several changes. Dipper and Mabel were noticeably older. The Mystery Shack had expanded. And there was someone that should have been dead and gone that his family were far too casual and comfortable having around.

Summary
Stanford Pines has missed a lot in his thirty years of nonconsensual multiverse hopping. This includes the changes the DSM (and society) has undergone, a fact he realises as he attempts to research Mabel's new diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder - one which becomes increasingly relevant as he contends with the ever-increasing chances that he is autistic.
Basically, Ford realizes he's autistic and has to deal with recontextualizing his past sixty-something years of life with this new information, very loosely based off personal experience.
Sidenote, I hate that the puzzle piece is so associated with abelist assholes, it would've been so thematically appropriate to give this fic a puzzle related name for its self discovery themes.

Desperately wishing I was something I'm not.” His full ugly sobs made their return, even more brutal than last time. The whole situation, in addition to vocalizing it all to Stan made it even scarier. In the silence before Stan spoke, he knew it was a mistake. His heart dropped to the core of the earth, his throat making noises he wished it didn’t, and his body forcing him to sniffle and shake beneath the heavy emotions he bore.
“Dipper.” Dipper didn’t look up. But Stan kept his eyes trained on him. Stan’s expression did not falter.

Dipper panics after Mabel's friends want to give him a makeover, it reminds him of his suffocatingly strict parents who force girlish things onto him. But Stan comforts a hysteric and nervous Dipper, with Dipper gaining a newfound confidence in his skin. -
