The glasses arrived a few days later and on the way home from school, Mrs. Mac and Timothy went to pick them up. On the way home from the eye doctor, they had a very serious conversation.
“Repeat to me what I just said, Timothy.”
Timothy sighed but did as he was told. “I must wear contacts to school, in public, or whenever my parents are around. They must never know about my glasses. Whenever I am alone or with you, at home, I am free to wear them but no one must ever know about my glasses.”

Tim still woke most nights either gasping for air, thinking that he had died again and had been thrown back into the Lazarus Pit. Or he woke up screaming. The nights he did make it through the night without waking up were usually the worst, as the day ahead would be filled with flashbacks and panic attacks that left him feeling tired and worn out. Like someone had drained every bit of emotion and sense of reality out of Tim. And left a shell. Worn out and hollow. Apparently, tonight was a screaming night.
