Until The Mario Bros. get a job call years later and end up in a different portal to The Mushroom Kingdom.
Luigi wants to see his secret friend again, but everyone keeps warning him about The Dark Lands and the cruel Koopa King that lives there.
Did he know the real Bowser? Or is he holding onto a young love that wasn’t even able to bud?

The Mushroom Kingdom and the Darklands have been at war for longer than most can remember. In a drastic oversight by the Koopa army, they accidentally kidnap the wrong person. Bowser discovers that Luigi has a name and Luigi discovers that evil isn't one dimension. They both hope Mario and Peach never discover what goes on behind the castle walls in this political drama.

Luigi, the responsible one, ends up taking care of Bowser while Princess Peach, Mario, and Toad are away. Being able to chat with the prisoner alone makes him realize there's more to the king of koopas than just an overbearing personality and the need to control everything. On the other side of this exchange, Bowser is surprised an enemy is actually listening to him and paying attention to his problems. As as the days pass, trust between the two grows... and then Luigi disappears. It'll take everyone, plus an old friend, to rescue Luigi, but even though the situation is currently crap, if everyone gets real cool about a bunch of stuff really quickly (like Luigi's secret, Bowser's hidden hopes, and a few future scenes Kamek shares with Mario), then the future looks bright enough to don sunglasses.
