Two years following Cuba, an uneasy alliance has been formed between the two Mutant factions headed by Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr. While Charles works to build a school and safe haven for young Mutants, Erik is recruiting new members into the Brotherhood, intent on preparing for a war which he believes to be inevitable.
Raven is caught in the middle, attempting to adapt to her new life as Erik's right-hand woman and to motherhood. As Kurt nears his second birthday, the discovery of a new Mutant - Irene Alder - leaves Raven questioning not only her relationship with Azazel but her own dedication to the Brotherhood as well.
When a surprise visit by Charles to the Brotherhood's Headquarters inadvertently brings a dangerous new Mutant, one James Howlett (AKA, The Wolverine), into the organization, the situation quickly spirals out of control. Disaster is looming for both the Brotherhood of Mutants and the Xavier Institute, but not even Irene Alder can predict the shape of what's to come.
Sequel to DEVIL, FATE runs from the year 1963 to 1966.

Summary
Three years after their run in with apocalypse, the X-Men, the Brotherhood, and the rest of the mutant population seemed to no longer have to deal with world ending events and instead are confronted with bigotry, fear, and hate from the human population. Many of the mutants opted to hide in plain sight by moving to more densely populated areas where they could live in relative anonymity. Some became simi nomadic, and many others stayed sequestered away at the X-Mansion, safe from most of the population and continued their work as an outreach program as well as an advocate for mutants fighting anti mutant legislation.
Rogue wants a break from her life at the mansion and to see what it's like to be her idea of normal. But peace is never permanent and she finds herself caught up in the middle of an plot to create the ultimate mutant.

The full disclosure here is that this is one of the best fanfics I read way back on fanfiction.net. Must have been around 2012-13 when I found it. I was rewatching X-men evolution again, and wondered if I could still find it. I was delighted to find that the author is still active, and their writing has only improved (something I could hardly believe was possible). I'm sure I'm about to embarrass myself by bookmarking and commenting on all of their stuff, but this feels like an important piece of fanfic history to me. (At least, it was in my life). I hope someday to be as dedicated to my craft as this author is. What a wonderful thing to read.

“You know her?” Memphis hissed, as she looked at Bucky.
Bucky however glared ahead, “I told you she got mean, Sam.”
“Wonderful, he knows her.” Gambit bent around Bucky to look at his daughter, “Does that mean you two are going to have problems if you kill her?” Memphis shrugged.
