Peacetimes in the Wolffort demesne amounted to a lot of nothing of grand importance, so when Benedict was summoned by his lord on matters of important company, it made as much sense as a flying horse overhead. To add consideration to confusion, he could not rationally devise why Erador was also around when heeding the summons either. Though Benedict may not know, the other two seem to have a mutual understanding of the night. However, because Benedict does not initially realize just what kind of agreement he was obliging to, his denseness causes a needless clash between himself and Erador. But, by his own accord, it does not go unresolved, lest they waste a night of an empty castle.
