Frederica and Geela stand united before him, at Serenoa’s left; to Serenoa's right are Erador and Benedict. Roland won’t deny his nerves. Maxwell, Cordelia, Hughette, and Avlora are on his side, but Serenoa is a dangerous target at the best of times.
“Stand steady, lad,” Maxwell mutters. “They’ve no one even half as fast as you. Let them move, and then fall upon them before they can regroup.”

“Fancy meeting you here,” someone says, some hours later. Osvald looks up. The person who’d called out to him is dressed in unremarkable, workmanlike brown, with a floppy hat jammed down over his hair. It’s all so relentlessly, deliberately plain that it takes Osvald a long moment to place him.
“Alrond!”
“Shh,” Alrond says. He’s smiling as he says it. “It’s supposed to be a secret.”
(Behind him, no fewer than three of the townsfolk look over at Osvald and make a show of rolling their eyes.)

The cafe where Ignis and Gladio have lunch on Tuesdays isn't particularly busy this week. It's a good thing, because Ignis doesn't want to broach this subject where someone might overhear and report it back to the tabloids. "Tell me," he says, when their server has brought their meals, "has Noctis ever spoken to you of any…romantic inclinations?"
Gladio chokes on his sandwich, and has to take a few long drinks of water. Ignis hadn't thought it was that shocking of a question, but perhaps Gladio's misunderstood his intent. He's about to clarify when Gladio says, "He talked to you about Prompto too?"
