Witches were provided gifts of magic. They sense it everywhere. It breathes with them, and it lives with them. It dies with them when their bodies are gone, and it stays with them when they’re not.
Magic is a gift. It is a blessing that those not given it will never understand. They can only dream of it, of being able to fly, or heal people with the single muttering of an enchantment. Of having such power, such wonderful ability. This admiration eventually turned to fear. To jealousy.
And oh, are fear and jealousy two of the most powerful feelings in the world.
Or: Tommy is a witch. He has baking abilities, meaning he can use his magic to influence anything he bakes. He struggles to keep these abilities a secret, whilst trying to get his bakery noticed. As he tries to achieve his dream, old secrets that he had buried down deep begin to resurface themselves.

or: Tommy had bigger and better things to do than find a witch to settle down with. He was a big man! He made his work in cleansing all of the covens he found with dark magic, from the largest towers to the smallest huts. He didn’t need all that sappy stuff.
Still, cleansing dark magic from entire covens took its toll on even the most accomplished witches and wizards, and Tommy’s just a familiar. The stress can get to be too much, and for a familiar without anyone to tie him down to, it might just destroy him from the inside out.
