Tyler reached a hand up. He wanted to touch the sky. He wanted to pull the stars down around him so he could prove that nothing was brighter than Josh’s smile.
The sky wasn’t as beautiful as Josh. The sky didn’t have the deep warmth of his eyes, it didn’t have the sound of his laughter, there were no wrinkles or smile lines. No smell of aftershave and generic deodorant. Tyler didn’t know why Josh was so obsessed with aliens, when he was the most interesting thing Tyler had ever seen.
Why go to heaven when there was somewhere better far from the sun?

Summary
The fog. A long grey-blue one, in the empty street, the shadows are blue.
This is the city he saw in the distance. This is the inside of the cement walls.
Tyler looks up, and the sky is black. Behind himself where there are towers, so tall they seem to pierce it, and not a single star.
The red-eyed robots are hunting him- Tyler smiles and cackles, drools, rabid dog. His head feels so warm.
And his lungs full of smoke. The tar is building up in his throat, and on, and in his nose and mouth.
He runs when the robots almost trap him. Breaks free and crawls on all fours, because upright his legs are like filled with cement. So heavy and slow.
The grey darkness is pulsating, blue and red, blue and red.
Alarms begin to wail. Sirens and screeches and windows lighting up of citizens that have awakened, blue and red, blue and red.
The alarm bells.
Ringing
Ringing.
Ringing.
In the distance a line of bodies blocks his way.
He turns around- another appears.
They're not red-eyed.
Dressed in green with yellow streaks.
They're alive.Are they coming for him too?
