Summary
Nick, Tara, and Lucy take a day trip. One second can change everything.
————————
“Alright,” Charlie says, sitting up, “let’s get you out, yeah?”
“I’m just …” Nick inhales sharply. “I’m waiting, I think.”
“For what?” Charlie asks, pushing a stray strand of hair from Nick’s forehead.
“For, um …” Pondering a second or two, and then Nick whispers roughly, “For my husband.”Series

Summary
Nick and Charlie’s night out in Menorca.
————————
Nick drapes the shirt onto the bed and comes to stand behind his husband at the sink, both watching the other in the mirror. Putting his hands flat on the cool surface, Nick boxes Charlie in, hips pressing close. His lips are at Charlie’s ear when he says lowly, “Lemme help.”
Charlie rolls his eyes, then focuses back on Nick in the mirror. “I know you.”
Nick feigns dumb. “You mean so very helpful?”
“We’re not having sex right now,” Charlie replies, but he’s grinning. “We’re going out.”
Picking up the lube with one hand, Nick ponders the options, responding, “We can do both, you know?”Series

Summary
A few glimpses into the Nelson-Springs’ Menorca holiday.
————————
“You two,” Diane says, shaking her head fondly. “I had a feeling back when I diagnosed Nick with …” She thinks, eyes searching the navy sky littered with bright stars, takes a sip of red from her glass. “Was it puppy love?”
Nick looks away from Charlie long enough to answer, “I believe it was smitten and head over heels.”
“That’s it!” Diane responds, snapping her fingers.
“Oh, that first holiday here after they got together?” Rich asks.
“Uh-huh,” Diane confirms. “I just knew that was it for our little Nick.”
“He was a goner,” Rich agrees, chuckling. “Still is.”
Charlie stays silent, but drapes his arms around Nick’s shoulders, pulling him in for a kiss to the cheek.
Sarah gives the glass in her hand a bit of a swirl, nodding. “Oh, I knew long before then.”
Everyone’s eyes find her face.Series

Summary
Charlie and Lucy spend a rainy afternoon together.
————————
As Charlie gently sweeps the brush full of eyeshadow over her eyelid, Lucy’s curiosity gets the better of her. “Is petty?”
“Well,” Charlie lightly sighs, instantly wishing he was a better painter, “I’m not great at this yet. It’s a little messy, but the colour is stunning.” He cleans up the area with his finger dotting at the excess. He leans back and instructs, “Let’s see.”
Lucy opens her eyes, batting her eyelashes for good measure. She smiles wide.
“Oh my goodness, Goose,” Charlie fawns. “Love, you’re so shimmery.”
Looking ecstatic, Lucy loudly questions, “I sine?”
“You shine, babygirl!” Charlie holds up the mirror for her and she studies her reflection, turning her head to catch the light from the window.Series

Summary
The big girl bed saga.
————————
“Why don’t you lie down, sweetheart?” Charlie suggests. “We’re gonna stay with you for a little while. Remember, we’re gonna read about Gossie.” He grasps the book Lucy chose for her bedtime story from atop the duvet, displaying the cover to her. Tori sent the entire collection for Lucy’s birthday, a series of age-appropriate books about a gosling named Gossie, her favourite red boots, and her 13 gosling friends from the farm. Included in the gift set was a pair of shiny, bright red rainboots in Lucy’s size. She’s already worn them nearly every day since. “She seems like a cool little chick.”
Nick chuckles at Charlie’s lame attempt at a joke, as he slips to rest with his back against his husband’s chest, legs elongated beside his, cuddling into Charlie’s free arm.
“Are goslings also called chicks?” Charlie asks.
Pondering a moment or two, Nick replies, “I think they’re just goslings. Like, instead of chicks.”Series

Summary
It’s Lucy second birthday!
————————
While Nick gathers the supplies for a nappy change over at the table, he eggs Lucy on, smirking as he requests, “Hey Goose, why don’t you tell Dad how old you are?”
Her eyes light up, so excited to share her knowledge. Sticking her fist right near Charlie’s eyes, Lucy thinks for a moment and then unfurls two fingers with careful consideration. Once she determines that’s in fact what her papa confirmed for her yesterday, she proudly tells Charlie, “I two kid!”
Somewhere behind them, Nick snickers. He throws a hand over his mouth to hide his amusement.
“Sorry, love?” Charlie asks.
Questioning her finger calculation, Lucy pulls her hand back and counts aloud, “One … two …” She puts them back in his face, so sure this time. “Yes! Is two!”
“Yes, you are two,” Charlie says. “And that is two fingers.” He holds up two of his own, mirroring hers. “You’re so good at counting, sweetheart.”Series

Summary
Scenes of a day in the life of Nick and Lucy.
————————
Lucy squeals at Daisy’s attention, “Dees!”
“That’s right, Dais,” Nick says, sharing a wide grin with Lucy. “Wait your turn.”
“Pop!” Lucy rights herself, then stands with her hands braced on the railing. “Pip me!”
“Pick you up?” Nick asks, as if she doesn’t request this every morning.
“Peas!” She throws her arms up in the air, waiting, smiling so big she’s showing off her little pearly teeth. “Pip up!”
“What if …” Nick ponders, quirking an eyebrow at his daughter, sneaking on tiptoes. “What if I …”Series

Summary
Girl dads Nick and Charlie plan some time to reconnect amidst work, parenting, busy daily life, and planning a birthday party.
————————
Charlie’s hands wander lower, pausing at the small of Nick’s back, then lift the hem of his ribbed vest to map the planes of fair skin underneath.
Breaking away just enough to give warning, Nick tells his husband, “Better not start something you can’t finish.” He finally opens his eyes to take in Charlie’s face, still as gorgeous as ever, with his sleep-swept curls, his deep grey eyes beneath a fan of dark lashes, and his full lips, which Nick can’t help but watch as Charlie considers his options.
A glint in his eye and the bite of his bottom lip confirms the path he’ll take. With no surprise to Nick, Charlie replies with a sharp, “Oh, I can finish it.”Series
