After Sunny's confession, his mother disowns him and abandons him in Faraway. Hero, still conflicted over the truth, hastily decides to take him in and adopt him, buying his old house and taking a break from college. His unchecked, growing antipathy towards Sunny for what he did is a problem, however, as the stress of early parenthood, homeownership and forcing himself to be his big brother figure continues to mount.

Summary
Left homeless by her mother kicking her out, Aubrey's forced to guiltily go to Basil, the last of her old friends still in Faraway Town as they all moved on with time. He takes her in despite never making up for everything she did to him years ago, even welcoming her and forgiving her completely to her relief.
But, as Aubrey settles in and gets to see more of Basil's daily life, it becomes apparent that he may not have recovered from the past nearly as much as he seems.

Summary

After a hospital visit, his mother, now stricken with grief, calls Sunny's old best friend Basil to stay with them and try to help an extremely depressed Sunny.

Basil woke up at the hospital to find Sunny confessing the truth to his friends. He hoped that it was over, that they could finally be happy again, but Sunny dropped off the face of the Earth. Now, it was up to Basil to handle the fallout and future.
Forgiveness would come slower from some than others, and the road ahead was long, but it was there—and Basil wouldn't be alone this time.
(A post-canon Basil-centric sunflower fic focused on a realistic depiction of the healing process, exploring the relationships within the friend group (mainly Basil's relationships), and ending my brainrot. I cannot exaggerate how terrible the first few chapters are compared to the later ones; please give this a chance lol.)

Fire. It represents the wrath of nature, wild and indomitable. To its ravages entire forests would succumb, reduced to nothing but blackened cinders. Yet eucalyptus seedlings would sprout from the ashes, sending their green regrowth high into the canopy to repopulate the forest once more.
Maybe I’m like a eucalyptus seedling. My life was slowly but surely burning down. Yet fate intervened, reforging the end I sought for myself into a second chance. And now I am undergoing my greatest trial by fire: to own up to my mistakes and earn my salvation, while building everything anew.
Rekindling forgotten friendships takes only a spark. Luckily for me, she’s the brightest spark of them all.
