Lottie’s lips brush over her palm again, slow, pressing her teeth softly against the skin near the tiny cut. The sensation sends a jolt through Natalie’s entire body, her stomach twisting at the strange, unbearable intimacy of it.
“Don’t bite it.” Her pulse pounds so loud in her ears she can barely hear her own voice as she mutters, low and warning.
Lottie exhales, lips still grazing her skin. “I want to.”
Natalie almost jerks her hand away this time. Almost. But she doesn’t—because Lottie’s looking at her like she’s starving, like she needs her, and maybe there’s something deep, deep inside Natalie that likes that. That likes the way Lottie clings to her like this, like she’s something holy, something worth consuming.
“Lottie, don’t.” She grits her teeth, voice sharp.

It’s some sort of a routine now, something Shauna is surprised to find herself in, something so trivial considering where they are. But on Tuesdays (she thinks it’s Tuesdays but honestly they’ve all been bickering about what day it is for a while now) Nat comes to fetch her a few hours before anyone else wakes up armed with a bag full of wire or rope or anything that could serve as a trap and drags Shauna off to set them.
They’re at the lake today. It’s foggy, drizzling on and off, which suits them fine because it means no one else is likely to be in the mood to come down here. Shauna is absolutely hopeless with the nets, just like she was with the traps and the snares, and really if Shauna wasn’t so into it she’d laugh how fucking obvious Nat was being by continuing to drag her out here every week.Shauna and Nat spend a morning at the lake.
