Summary
Aang is sixteen when Katara looks up from a half-built wall and cannot make the boy she has known for four years fit the young man in front of her.
What follows takes nearly three years: a winter of letters and rooms that learn to feel empty, a grandmother who puts a pouch of dried leaves on the floor between them, a stable at the South Pole where two people try to work out how to grow up without the ones who should have shown them, and the slow business of finding words for something their bodies reached first.
Set in the early Republic City years, before Air Temple Island and before the wedding. A prequel to The Ones We Carry.

Regect hesitantly meets his friend’s eyes. It was a reasonable question, with an unfortunately unreasonable answer. He takes a deep breath.
“Dude, I fucked up bad. Like, so bad. Like, ridiculously bad. Like, astronomically–“
“– Get to the point.”
“Okay jesus fuckin’ christ! I fed us some kind of… freaky potion meant for Dice and ‘Fonte. Happy?”
Ze stares once more, the angelic wings sprouting from his temples twitching slightly as the gears begin slowly turning in his head.
“… You what..?”

Summary
Time once again seemed to blur together, every minute, second, hour, day, or week. It could have been years before he heard footsteps behind him. He shut his eyes tightly, expecting to hear Daemons' newfound voice behind him to tell him he was a failure, a defect, a reject, once again.
Instead, he heard something fond and familiar.
“Big Country.” The voice spoke, seeming to have a smile in the words, at least at the last syllable.

Ze returns from the hole where Regect has waited, Moe and Micha with him as well. Micha's spirit has been trapped in the game, as well as Ze and Moe. Are Ze and Moe dead, too? They don't really know, but they need to find a way out of the world. Ze and Regect are forced to come to terms with their feelings for each other during a drunken blunder from Ze. How long will that take, despite them both knowing what happened? Who knows! They're so terrible at this!
