One of the first things Shamura did when they finally arrived on the campgrounds was dissent then die. No, seriously, they had been on the cult grounds less than a day before they were found dead.
The next time Shamura was seen alive was after their resurrection. The smoke was thick, a smoke that wasn't familiar to The Lamb despite the years of experience, and Shamura's figure could be made out, smaller, wearing clothes to large for them, looking around confused. And stepping out the black smoke, Shamura could be seen.
Smaller. Thinner. Younger.
The Lamb should have expected this.

Summary
Betrayed not once but twice, Narinder receives mercy from the Lamb following his defeat. He will bide his time for a chance at revenge, even if it takes another thousand years.
Lambert decides to take a page out of Narinder's book and become someone willing to wait. They will befriend the now-furious god they fell for, even if it takes a thousand years.
Too bad the Mystic Seller had to drop a boulder into still water. The Bishops get involved in their lives once more, and Narinder only gets more enraged as one by one they make their reappearance. And like some leech taking a ride for the fun of it, a disgusting illness sneaks its way into his mind.
