“Happy,” he said, turning the paper over, then turning it back, squinting at it. “What the hell is this?”
Happy barely glanced up from his phone. “How should I know? I just drive you around, I don’t try to understand your designs. You’re the one who left it in the back of the car yesterday.”
Tony turned the paper towards Happy, tapping a finger against the scribbles in the margin. “I didn’t write that. I thought it, but I didn’t write it. What sorcery is this?”
“Oh shit, sorry,” Happy said, expression resigned. “I’m guessing the kid went through them when I drove him to school this morning. He has no regard for personal boundaries.”
“The kid.”
“Um— My girlfriend, she has a—“
“Your stepson did these calculations?”
“That’s not entirely—“

Mr. Stark, who's been tinkering with something that looks alarmingly like a miniaturized nuclear reactor, drops it with a loud clank. He turns around so fast, Peter's half-convinced he's going to get whiplash just from watching.
"Care to run that by me again?"
Oh, fuck.
"What? No! Jesus," Peter waves his arm, trying to backtrack from the conversational cliff he's just hurled himself off. "Not like that."
The one where Peter has night terrors, Bucky is simultaneously the least difficult and the most confusing man in the compound, and everyone's a good bro.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Steve said, mildly. “Pete and I got hot dogs. That’s it.”
“Pete?” Tony emphasized, jaw dropping at the sheer audacity. “Since when do you use nicknames for people?”
“I call Bucky by nicknames.” Steve pointed out.
“I called the kid ‘Pete’ first,” Tony said, narrowing his eyes. “Stop trying to steal my shtick. Get your own.”
“You don’t own the nickname, Tony.” Steve looked amused as he said it.
“I can own whatever I want, I’m a billionaire,” Tony replied, already running through the legal process in his mind of how he could possibly patent a nickname. He’d have to ask Pepper. These were dire circumstances. He refused to have his own personal intern usurped by someone wearing the carbon polymer equivalent of Uncle Sam’s tighty-whities.

OR: The media gets one image of Steve and Peter getting hot dogs together and runs with it, assuming that Peter is Steve’s secret son. Tony takes great insult to this fact. Tony Stark does not like being one-upped by people stealing his personal intern. Least of all by Captain America. He has a reputation to uphold, after all.

Peter freezes. Wide-eyed, with ‘guilty’ written on his forehead in 72, bold, Times New Roman font. It takes a solid thirty seconds before he can put himself together enough to click the unmute button.
“I—no?” Peter says. His voice is startlingly high pitched and his expression is nothing short of horrified.

Flip the coin over, and Tony Stark is left between a rock and a well-meaning, but poor common sense son as he struggles to come to terms with yet another member of his family painting a target on their back. The Stark/Rogers wedding is now only two months away, and yet the family happiness and strife has no time to wait.

It's been two months since Peter last saw him… since they fought. It's been two months since he stormed out of the lab and Mr. Stark told him that he shouldn't come back. Peter is sixteen, he's old enough to stay home alone while May is out of town, even if that's not his aunt's first choice. It's ok though, because Peter has this. He can do this, no problem. Everything is fine. Then the power goes out and along with it the heat. Still, he's fine. It's all good. He'll just bundle up and wear extra layers, and wrap himself up in a blanket. And then there's a burglary in the building. It's no problem because he's Spider Man. Except it is a problem because the burglar was trying to get into his apartment and now the door knob is broken, and he can't lock the door and he's completely freaked out! Dark apartment, no lock on the door, and oh yeah, he's shaking. And he still has two more nights on his own without May. Not knowing where else to go, he goes to Stark Tower to find Tony.

Peter is really good at a lot of things. He’s great at troubleshooting lines of code when Tony’s eyes are tired. He’s good at bringing people together, like the people of Queens, who go out of their way to help Spider Man, no matter what walk of life they’re from. Tony is pretty sure that even some criminals take pride in being able to help their local vigilante from time to time. What Peter is the best at though, is trying to give Tony a heart attack. Now that they’re back, Tony expects the Rogues to try to pull him into a meeting, or some kind of team meal instead of letting him escape to his lab. What he doesn’t expect is to walk into the common living area after not seeing them for two years and be greeted by Steve with, “We met your son.”
Tony freezes. What? What is Cap talking about? His eyes travel around the group. They’re all watching him, trying to gauge his reaction. “My son?”
“Peter.”
“Right. Pete.” They think Peter is his kid? What had given them that idea?!
“Why do you look surprised?” Nat asks. This is so not how he had envisioned this whole reunion conversation going.

So much changed with Peter’s body chemistry after the bite that new things are still coming up that surprise him. One day he and Tony are having a fight and Peter is so stressed out he ends up having a seizure. Seizures… great, so that’s a thing now, and Tony has decided that the best thing is for Peter to stop being Spider Man. The more the seizures happen, the more protective Tony becomes. All Peter wants is to have his life back.
OR
May asks Tony to take joint custody of Peter to help with the Spider Man thing and this new stress seizure issue. Peter learns that sometimes parents do what’s necessary even if it’s not a popular choice with their kids.

It starts as a helpful act on Spider Man’s part, because that’s what Spider Man does, doesn’t he? He helps people. It’s his whole MO, whether he’s helping a kid get his cat out of a tree, or helping a lost tourist, or helping someone whose car is getting broken into. So it's just another day on the job when a local restaurant owner asks for his help. It's not long before Peter's enjoying what he's doing though, and hoping Mr. Stark and the other Avengers don't find out about his side hustle.
