Summary
Mirage is in pieces. Everything else is over, the battle won, but it doesn't feel like it when Noah only has a seemingly dead pile of silver metal to show for it. But he'll fix him, no matter what it takes, even if he has to ask everyone he knows to help make it happen. Optimus seems to believe he can; so maybe Mirage is more alive than he appears at first glance.
And, hopefully, he doesn't die in the time it takes to make it happen.

“We were… friends, weren’t we?” The words left his vocals before he could quell them, and Noah considered them before he could regain his wits enough to take them back.
“...Yeah. We were friends.” His head turned, and he tore his gaze away from the mech, leaving Mirage to stare at his dust-fettered curls, struggling to find any words in this planet’s limited language that could ever hope to describe the unbearable mix of guilt and yearning and grief and above all that, unyielding hope that bubbled through his chassis.
But it seemed no amount of words ever could, Cybertronian or otherwise. “I can see why,” was all he said to the human.

Derek shot his hand out and grabbed Stiles’ wrist. “Stiles, stop,” he snapped. He could see someone that he recognized as one of Stiles’ neighbors curled up on the ground in front of the mailboxes. The neighbor’s heartbeat was rabbiting out of control and the smell of blood was coming from him.
"Derek, what -" Stiles turned to look into the lobby and froze. "Oh my god. Tyler!" Stiles darted off towards his neighbor. "What happened?! Fuck. Derek call an ambulance!" Stiles stood there staring, blood everywhere on the floor around his neighbor.
“Stiles, don’t touch him,” Derek barked. “He smells sick and you don’t know if it could be contagious.”

No voice questions him as his hands follow curves of metal, almost reverently, until he finds the emblem on the very front, and traces its pattern. He can see it in his mind, an index nail finding and following the sharp edges of the symbol that decidedly has not been stolen and welded to the shoulder of a murderer.
It’s almost like he needs to remind himself it’s still there, and what that means.Noah discovers how to quiet his mind on sleepless nights when his memory is dead set on recalling seeing Mirage die.
