Takemichi is stuck in a dream, or a nightmare, or maybe it’s real. He doesn’t know, and he doesn’t want to either.
Mikey’s head is in his lap, and there’s blood everywhere, and it’s not Takemichi’s. No one else is around, so it must be Mikey’s and he’s desperately clinging onto Mikey and words are coming out of his mouth but he doesn’t know what he’s saying. Takemichi is looking at himself from an outside perspective and all he can think to do is scream and cry and try to stop dreaming.

Or, Takemichi finds himself stuck in a nightmare and Mikey comes to the rescue.

He’s met with a pair of dark eyes, the darkest eyes he has ever seen and it takes a second to register that Takemichi can literally see through them. The sounds of the tv are drowned with the pounding of his heart in his ears. Staring directly at the dark eyes, he doesn’t seem capable of looking anywhere else, it feels like he might drown in them. In what seems slow motion they crinkle at the sides while the corner of its mouth tilts upwards in amusement.
“Hi.” It says.
Or, Mikey is dead, Takemichi is not, they become friends nevertheless.

It feels oddly like a test.
He can feel his skin heat up as Mikey looks up at him. His fingers fidget, twirling a strand of blond hair around his finger before he lets it fall free. He swallows an odd heaviness in his chest as he flicks his own gaze to meet Mikey’s eyes head-on.
He breathes in long and unsteady before he lets it out in time with the way he blinks back deliberately.
Mikey is a bit like a cat Takemichi realizes.

The fraction of his mind that remained whispered at him to give into it, to let himself slip completely into the void. That part of him was more than happy to lose himself in the realm of dissociation. To let the haze consume him, leaving everything numb.
Mikey was already halfway there. He was aware enough to recognize how far he's drifted already. He wouldn't last long if he continued as he was. Simply sitting on his bed idly. He was practically inviting the void to come to him.

After a gruelling exam week, the then first-years huddle together to watch a horror movie one night. They might throw hands with terrifying curses on the regular, but they draw the line at squeaky door hinges, creaking floorboards, and mysterious knocks on the window.
