As he descended to the last few steps, his left foot slipped on the worn edge of the stairs. He reached out to grip the banister, but his hand missed, and he stumbled forward. Astrid instinctively moved forward to steady him, but their combined momentum sent them both tumbling to the floor in a heap. She found herself tangled in a mess of limbs, her face inches from his, as they both tried to regain their balance and composure.
"Are you okay?" Astrid asked, her voice tinged with concern.
The boy looked up, his green eyes wide with surprise and cheeks flushed. "Yeah, I think so," he replied, a sheepish smile spreading across his face. "Sorry about that."
Astrid couldn't help but laugh softly. "It's alright. Do you normally make a habit of falling for girls, or am I just lucky?"
