Summary
“Buck…” It was off his tongue like he was reciting a prayer, like Buck was a saint, and Eddie a sinner begging for a chance for redemption.
Buck’s eyes were wide, his mouth hung open a little, and then he swallowed and sucked in a harsh breath. “Eddie?” Buck said his name like it was the melody to a sad song, like it was the minor key, and a sorrowful poem that shook apart nations. Eddie wanted to fling himself at him, wanted to throw his body with the faith that Buck would catch him, and he wanted to kiss him until he couldn’t breathe anymore. He hadn’t realized his empty- how hollow he had been feeling until Buck was standing in front of him.
Eddie shattered Buck's heart two years ago, and as fate would have it they were once again face to face with each other. Will they be able to move on, or will hurt of the lies in the past tear them apart....again.

“Fuck, Buck,” Eddie muttered against his skin, his voice rough and strained. “You smell… good.”
Buck’s mind was spinning, conflicting emotions rising in his chest until he felt like he would explode. The alpha in him wanted to growl and nip at the older man’s audacity. To treat him like a potential mate? To look at him like he wanted to swallow the younger man whole?
This wasn’t normal. Alphas didn’t act like this with each other, especially not during a rut where the instinct to mate was at the forefront of their minds.
And yet.
He couldn’t bring himself to pull away.

Buck kissed like he did everything. 100% nothing less. Intense, impulsive. Eddie felt like he was breathing for the first time ever. Buck groaned, tried to push a little closer, but in the action knocked over their empties. It was a cold bucket of water that crashed over Eddie, and he yanked back from Buck breathing hard. Buck looked, well he looked like he was in another world, his eyes wide and pupils blown, and his lips swollen and slick with spit. Eddie’s spit.

And it starts something like this:118 responds to a call at night to one of the old warehouses. Once there, Buck notices a man who doesn't fit in with the crowd of onlookers. For some reason he can't stop thinking about him, so he decides to go back there. What he finds in the old warehouse is not a party but an illegal fight club and the mysterious man locked in a cage. After realizing the collar around the man's neck is not just for show, Buck decides to bust him out.

Summary
With the lawsuit hanging over his head, Evan "Buck" Buckley decides to pack his things and leave L.A. behind. He resigns from the LAFD, clears out his apartment, and drops a stack of letters off at the firehouse before disappearing into the comfort of Oregon's National Parks.
The 118 are left reeling by his sudden departure with nothing but a stack of letters explaining why he left and unsure whether he'll ever return. They struggle to pick up the pieces left behind with new feelings and realizations dragging themselves out of the woodwork.
Or, Buck leaves L.A. to clear his head and the 118 falls apart.
