“I’m volunteering,” Enjolras tells him, feeling vaguely sheepish and wondering if he’ll get thrown out now, and if so, what will he tell Monsieur Valjean. He holds up his knife roll and apron as proof.
“Oh, are you now?” The man turns back to him with a smirk. “That’s just lovely. Community service, probably. Bet you don’t know a thing about food.”
Enjolras does not dignify this with a response. If this idiot doesn’t recognize him from the review in the Observer, he’s not going to spell it out. Instead, he turns away to tie on his apron and lay out his knives. “You won’t need those,” the man says behind him. “Not that I’d trust you to use them, anyway.” Enjolras grits his teeth and puts his paring knife on his steel, honing the already sharp blade. The rasping does nothing to drown out the mocking voice behind him. “Do you know how many people you could have fed with what those knives cost?”
Enjolras whirls, rage rising. “Do you know how many people I’ve fed with these knives?” he growls. “Do you know anything at all?”

It's this first week of re-adjustment that Enjolras dreads, the week full of odd glances in the hall and of subtle reprimands from teachers who look at him like he's suffered some sort of irreversible fall from grace.
Grantaire would love that. If anything about this situation is concerning, it's that he's firmly resisted the opportunity to make a comment about Enjolras's burned wings or cracked halo.

His whole, comfortable life of fighting, dancing, drinking, lunch counters, and taking men into back alleyways after his performances gets thrown for a loop when a group of mostly Princeton students show up at a local bar and plot to change the direction of the country. He considers it his duty to disrupt their meetings with his smart mouth, and over the months that follow, he relishes in the frustration he wrings out of the Princeton boy leading the way. Will a bet on the boxing match between the Brown Bomber and Rocky Marciano change the course of their relationship? And more importantly, in the time of McCarthyism, is there also time for... love?

Step Two: Have said activist group plan your wedding while you struggle with complicated feelings – but hey, at least you get free cake
Step Three: Do some more fake dating, realise your feelings with the help of your groomspeople, and then realise that this complicates the situation even more – but hey, there’s more discount food
Step Four: Get married without a hitch – until you accidentally confess your feelings on your wedding night
Step Five: Hope that everything will go back to normal, even though you know it won’t

He finds a box with a quattro formaggi pizza he couldn’t finish in one go, and when he sniffs it and it doesn’t make his stomach coil around his ribs, decides to keep it where it is. “Nope.”
(In which Grantaire is an agoraphobic shut-in, and Enjolras is just a volunteer, really. My entry for NaNoWriMo 2018!)

Summary
A sharp click of an annoyed tongue, as the guard gestures towards the uniform meaningfully. Right, he is a prisoner. It doesn’t take long to change into the offensive garment, but his body does not settle into it well. Never one for heavy-handed metaphors, he has to admit that it feels like a prison all of its own, tight in all the wrong places and marking him as a penalized man. They don’t shave his head, contrary to all the horror stories he has heard about the French prison system. He supposes it would not matter on an aesthetic level. When has Enjolras ever cared about his physical appearance? But the indignity of it, the choice being taken out of his hands - that would have stung.

Summary
Grantaire deals with his depression by documenting it through photography as he and Enjolras try to wade through life with mental illness. It doesn't make it any easier for him or Enjolras, though. It's the blind leading the blind as they try to navigate the waters of depression.
