He tries not to turn and look at some of the overly-familiar scars adorning Diluc’s skin as he speaks. “I didn’t mean to wake you. Just lost in thought.”
Diluc’s refute is near instant, even while sleep remains in arm’s reach: “That’s unusual for you.”
Often, the tenderness that comes from a dark sky is softer with Diluc. More hesitant. Childe tends to guide his hands in the dark, remind him that he's allowed to hold on for the entirety of the evening. Drags Diluc's fingers up to Childe's own cheeks, or across his wrist to feel his pulse. No, mornings are not their only moment of rest. Every moment they have alone is precious, tucked away somewhere safe in Childe's heart, behind his ribcage and his flesh. It’s simply that dawn carries hope in it’s open, generous palms, while nightfall nurses feelings to fruition indiscriminately—and tonight in particular, as Childe stares out at Mondstadt through Diluc's windows, he thinks on how none of what he sees is actually his.

Summary
There's a certain pleasure in being accompanied by a Fatui Harbinger. Childe cuts through the enemies like the paper they are, and once the room is clear he looks around like a kid would stare at an empty box of chocolates, sad that there are none left.
Lumine finds his cheerful social mask grating but he looks like a living tempest in battle. Something pure. He fights with a kind of ruthless grace that borders on artistry and Lumine can appreciate mastery when she sees it.Labyrinth Warriors chilumi edition.
I keep thinking of how Childe's passive talent increases normal attack level for everyone in the party and how there should be a lore explanation for this and I have two versions.
First: he explains techniques to people.
Second: he's just very annoying and angry people put more strength in their blows.

A missing scene inspired by Childe's Character Story. Or, the one where he overthrows the territory of a nobleman.
He had hated his father then for gutting him like any other fish hauled up from the depths. How his anger swept through him, all-encompassing, to set alight the dry stacks of kindle made from shreds of his battered dignity. It wasn't enough punishment to have fallen between worlds—that he lacked a home to return to stung more than any bodily pain.
With time and distance though, he thinks he is beginning to understand.
People belong where they are born, but creatures belong where they are fed.

Summary
Childe stares at the sumpter beast lying on its side at the edge of a small enclosure, its back turned towards the gate and the people gathered there. It’s a big animal, larger than others Childe has seen, covered by shaggy fur. It should look majestic, but instead, the impression it gives slumped against the hard ground is almost…sad. Its coat is unkept, the food in the trough on the other edge of the enclosure untouched.
The nervous recruit by Childe’s side pipes up, “Sir, when working in Sumeru every unit is required to have a sumpter beast with them to carry essential provisions. Even– even a single-person unit.”
“And this is the best mount you have available?” Childe asks, one eyebrow raised.
“This is the only one we have available,” the skirmisher admits.

“They ran into me,” Miko feigned innocence, a look she’d outgrown at least three centuries prior. “I was simply tending to the shrine as is my duty when I heard this lovely couple arguing. It seems that this one, Tartaglia, wants a chance to spar with you, but Morax-”
“Zhongli.”
His voice was clear, polished, easily transporting Ei back to a time when she was only a young god hiding behind Makoto’s billowing kimono, that same rich timbre droning on about rare gems and herbal wine, his presence oddly steadying amongst the animated din of the other Archons.
“I’m known as Zhongli now.”
Childe and Yae Miko engage in a questionably friendly spar while Raiden Ei and Zhongli discuss the complexities of loving and losing as immortal beings.

The eyeliner under the consultant's eyes was red.
“It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” The man bowed slightly in greeting, long mahogany hair swinging in a low ponytail. “I am Zhongli of Wangsheng Funeral Parlor.”
His voice was deep and pleasant, demanding attention, yes, but not in a sharp, arrogant way of someone authoritative. The timbre of his voice was but a silk line, pulling you deeper and deeper into the waves of a conversation.
'What a powerful tool in the hands of a skilled orator,' he thought passingly, before also slightly bowing and introducing himself:
“Tartaglia, number Eleventh of the Fatui Harbingers. But everyone tends to just call me 'Childe'. And really, the pleasure is all mine, Zhongli-xiānsheng.”
