Summary
For the first time since the continent was split, peace is more than just an empty word; it is a possibility. However, they will need more than happy thoughts and well-wishes to build a lasting era of peace. The kingdoms on both sides of the border will have to work together to achieve it.
Yet, truthfully, real change starts somewhere smaller than kingdoms and continents. It starts with the people themselves.

Whoever was carrying her smelled like crisp apples and fall.
The pain ran through her body in waves like she had never felt. The last thing she remembered feeling was the softness of fabric under her, then around her. The loss of the warm body replaced by, what she assumed, were blankets.

Amaya is in Lux Aurea, surrounded by elves who want her murdered, some that want her sacrificed, and a few that need her alive. Her to-do list is quite simple: Escape, find her nephews, kill Viren. And not necessarily in that order.
Janai's to-do list is even more direct: Keep the annoying human alive without falling in love with her.
Spoiler alert: It's not going well.
(Basically: How did a Human General gain favor with a Sunfire Queen in training, whose main purpose in life was to destroy her? SEASON 3 storyline that bridges somewhat into the 2-year gap before SEASON 4)

Janai walked behind the guards dragging her prisoner along the hallways of the palace. They were headed back to the circle of fire. Amaya could not see, could not stand. She was still shaking and gasping for breath. The guards had no sympathy. Janai's heart twisted.
"Stop," she said. They were at a juncture in the palace corridors, a convenient place to switch directions.
The guards stopped, turning questioningly to the Golden Knight.
"I'll take her from here."

Summary
Let’s talk about a Susan who never moved on, who buried her family in English soil and spent the rest of her life trying to find her way home. She did not believe lions were kind, but she always remembered a bow in her schoolgirl hands.
She looked in every old wardrobe she came across. It was casual, everyday– the first day in a new lecture hall, she checked the back of the coat closet. Friends had her over for Christmas dinner and she excused herself to go the bathroom, checked every cabinet and closet, and then headed back in for pudding. She went home with a cute boy she met in a smoky little pub and she checked his wardrobe before she headed home the next morning, heels in hand.
She also went to college, got a political science degree she had to fight for. She got a byline in the local paper, a few ladies’ magazines, then a larger regional publication.
She had mimosa brunches with friends. She read detective novels, never touched fantasy, and finally one day she stepped through an old stone archway barely thinking about it and–-
