The world is a harsh place. This, Nao knows.
Unless you’re born smart, pretty, wealthy, or some combination of all three, it doesn’t care about you in the least. It’s not something she wastes time being bitter about, just something she accepts and deals with.
Her only plans for the future consist of scrounging up enough food to survive, and dying during a particularly cold winter before her age can reach double digits, simply because she doesn’t know how to deal with anything else.
She’s about to learn, or die trying.

Time passes by without notice. How long has it been? A day? A month? A year? At first I put a mark on the stone door every nightfall. I gave up after I ran out of stone. What am I even waiting for? I keep telling myself that something will happen, that the door will open and everything will be back to what it was, everything will be alright again. But the truth is that nothing will ever be as it was. Nothing is alright. Nothing will change. The sun will continue to fall, time will continue to pass.

She wakes up in a massacre, drool and blood dripping down the front of her shirt as she stares emptily at the two dead bodies before her.
A part of her mind is screaming, howling at the memories of countless deaths carved into it and the burning betrayal of his brother.
The other is sobbing hysterically at the memory of hands that took and took until there wasn’t anything left to take.

It takes her months to come to terms with the fact that she’s not dead but alive and trapped in the body of a six-year-old little boy whose brother had massacred his entire family. She feels disconnected from the world she's awaken in, where children are being taught to kill and she's living in the same house the boy saw his family be slaughtered in and no one seems to care.
Being reborn isn't fun.
Being reborn as Uchiha Sasuke is a mess and a half.
