Summary
It’s been a little over a month since Diluc returned to Mondstadt, and rumors of a mysterious Darknight Hero started to spread. He isn’t fond of the title, but Diluc’s found a way to serve Mond on his own terms, and he isn’t going to let go of it just yet. When the Knights of Favonius are eerily quiet after a group of adventurers go missing in Dragonspine, Diluc resolves to climb the storming mountain and find them himself.
But nothing goes to plan. As he runs into the Eleventh Fatui Harbinger while searching the mountain, Diluc is confronted with the revenge he thought he gave up, and begins to question if this whole Darknight Hero business is flawed to begin with.

Childe lets out a low whistle, visibly relaxing as he stands up, rolling back his shoulders and cracking his neck. “Your staff is impressively on alert,” he starts immediately with a lighthearted joke, eyes darting directly for the desk in the middle of the study, fully expecting to fall upon a fiery glare that glimmers beautifully in the moonlight. “But even after all this time, they’re still not good enough to stop m—”
Diluc is hunched over his desk, cheek pressed up against his arm as his mangled flaming mane splays across the papers that are messily strewn across the large wooden desk. It does not take much for Childe to surmise that the winery owner is asleep.
“My, my Master Diluc,” he says, voice soft and playful. “You invite me to your home and yet aren’t awake to welcome me. Tsk, is this the hospitality of Mondstadt’s most noble?”

the earliest memory diluc has is of the woods.
he remembers the snow, he remembers the sensation of wetness against his cheek as he lies on that blanket of white, and he remembers blood – dark, thick and his own.
diluc doesn’t know how he got there, or what came before. lord arlecchino tells him to imagine the axiom of infinity, with his life being the line of symmetry between two unending poles. death is the infinity that awaits him, on the right of the axis and to the left, is life before that memory. as far as she is concerned, diluc’s life began the moment his eyes opened, and he saw blood like an unmoving stream, blood like the red of his hair. diluc, for the most part, agrees.
he had never been given a choice, after all.

Something in the city pulls him near and it would only leave him longing for more.
(Or, I write Chiluc. Again. This time with angst and a maybe not so happy ending. It’s mutual pining and unrequited love, what’d you expect?)

Summary
diluc falls in love for the first time on a hot summer evening when ajax drags him out into the fields of tall grass – taller than they were – to look at the moon. tonight, it is big, and it is blue, but diluc has a hard time focusing on ajax’s excited chatter, on how it’s really just a trick of the light caused by the right amount of dust and smoke.
all diluc can think of is how the blue of the moon reminds him terribly of the blues of ajax’s eyes.
how there’s ash in them too – specks of grey between pools of azure – and diluc decides that this too, must be an illusion, that this will all go away when morning comes, but when kaeya sits across from diluc at the table for breakfast the next day, he finds that his brother’s eyes look nothing like the moon.
at its very core, this is a love story.

Over a decade on, Ajax is missing far too much to truly make himself whole and the cracks are becoming more and more obvious as time drags on, threatening to destroy everything the two had worked for over so long.
