He didn’t know where he was going until the warm lights of a familiar hotel suddenly cut through the rain and the darkness. He slowed, blinking water from his eyes, realizing with a kind of detached horror where his body had unconsciously carried him.

He didn’t even have time to analyze why because through the glass doors of the lobby, he caught sight of her. She was dressed simply – dark coat, heels, hair pulled back – but she looked mesmerizing. Junmo didn’t know if he caught her in the midst of going out for dinner perhaps, or she actually just came back from one. She was talking to the receptionist, head tilted lightly, calm and smiling. Her profile was sharp, perfect, framed by the golden glow of the lobby.
In contrast, there was Junmo – in the dark, looking like trash and feeling rotten to the core.
He should’ve been leaving. He was a mess inside out, dripping blood and rainwater, looking every bit the criminal he was pretending to be and watching her like a creep wasn’t helping. If she saw him like this, it would have been a disaster.
However, as if she heard him, her gaze flicked outside and found him.
Junmo froze still.
