“Y’know, it’s really great that I can count on such discretion from you and Lucas. Super awesome that you don’t tell each other everything.” Max ignores him and he continues on. “Well, I tried my best, but he kind of looked at me all-dumbfounded and wasn’t saying anything, so I panicked.”

“Of course I gave him enough time to answer.” Mike grits out, voice tight. “I know how to have a fucking conversation with someone, Maxine.”

“Hi,” Will blurts out before he can stop himself, and he can feel his cheeks heat up in embarrassment so quickly it must be unhealthy somehow. “Uh -“
The guy shuts his phone off and reaches up to his ear to pull out an earbud. He shoots Will a grin, which does not help the whole blushing-crimson thing. “Hey,” he says coolly, and Will admires his composure while he wills the earth to collapse beneath him.
The guy quirks an eyebrow at Will when he doesn’t look away, then seems to take in his slightly disheveled and paint-stained appearance - he’d had his painting and drawing class just before he’d gone home, and had managed, as he always does, to get paint everywhere - because his smile grows a little softer, a little fonder. His shoulders relax against the bench, and Will lets out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding. “You get sexiled?”

His fluffy hair at the front, clumped pieces at the back where he’d slid his fingers in a mere few minutes before. His pretty green eyes that look hazel or even brown in this light, the dark circles he gets when he drinks framing them like intricate paintings. A satisfied, bloody smile.
Mike isn’t satisfied. He swallows thickly, choking down the words 'don’t you want more?'

Summary
Mike’s had a lifetime of experience pretending to be chill.
From a young age he’s learned that the easiest way to get by in life is by acting completely unaffected by everything. When you grow up in a small, judgmental town with the parents Mike has, it kinda comes with the territory.
So far it’s managed to work pretty well for him; after all, he’s made it through three years of high school with his body and his dignity mostly intact, and he’s got some pretty sick battle scars to prove it.
All of that seems to go out the window whenever it comes to Will.
So Mike does what he does best and tries to keep Will at an arm’s length, to keep him close but not that close, so that Will won’t be able to see through his poorly concealed thoughts and get scared off.
This time it’s different, though.
Things have changed, somehow, for some reason.
Or
Mike has never been a jealous person. In fact, he prides himself on not being easy to read—that is, until Will comes out to him, and suddenly, the thought of him hanging out with other people forces Mike to confront the complicated feelings that he’s been running from before he loses Will for good.

For what, Mike didn’t know, but after a long moment, Will finally nodded. “Yeah, Mike, you can hug me.” And Mike didn’t hesitate to haul Will back to his feet so he could hug him properly, full-bodied and chest to chest.
“I’m so sorry, Will,” he murmured into Will’s hair. “I’m so sorry.”

In which Mike and El decide to end their relationship in favor of being friends, he punches Troy Walsh, and finally allows himself to feel what he feels for Will while they work on patching up their friendship so that maybe, someday, he can be brave enough to ask for more - not necessarily in that order. A bit of a prequel to the first fic in the series, though they can be read as standalones.

Mike blinked. He’d completely forgotten, between Holly going missing, frantically searching for a way to get her back, and being possessed by Vecna himself. “Uh, thanks,” he said awkwardly, running a hand through his hair and looking down at what Steve had tossed at him. It was a Kit Kat bar. His favorite. He wondered how Steve knew that.
“Oh, right!” Robin darted forward and hugged him before he could react. He met Will’s eyes over her shoulder, but Will still had a hand covering his mouth and his expression was unreadable, aside from the red on his cheeks. “Happy birthday! There’s a surprise waiting for you in the kitchen. Anyway—mind reading. Totally a thing now, right?”

Through "the power of best friendship," as Robin puts it, Mike and Will develop a telepathic connection when Vecna tries to take Mike. Neither of them are really upset by it, especially when it gives them the opportunity to finally destroy Vecna once and for all.

"I can say, you would have gotten me if it weren't for the gun I have held to your chest," Mike says, being pushed up against the wall with a knife to his throat seems to have done nothing to fix the smug smile on his face. Either Mike had always been insane or the effects of the job had finally gotten to him.
It's certainly gotten to Will; when he looks down at the small gun placed gently at his sternum, he has to fight the urge to laugh. He recognized the weapon. It was rare and it packed a real punch, and by punch, he means that once triggered by the heat of being fired and the human body combined the bullet explodes and causes irreversible damage to the body.
Mike continues, "Also, I would be careful with the whole 'threatening strangers with knives' thing. Some people are into that."
Despite himself, Will humours him. "Well, I would hardly call us strangers."
Mike smiles, it's almost manic but still incredibly breathtaking. "Then you should know just how much the cold press of a knife against my skin gets me going."Logline: Unbeknownst to them, Mike and Will are tasked with killing one another by their own agencies. Luckily, Mike and Will decide to pursue their own mission.

Mike stares off into the distance. There is nothing but trees out here for miles. Some days, he thinks he could just walk away. Walk into the woods and never come back. Maybe he'll get eaten by a demogorgon on the way to Bigfoot's lair and people will think he's run off to some big city like Los Angeles.
He's so deep in his thoughts, he almost doesn't register the gigantic fucking grandfather clock that's fused into the tree infront of him. It chimes eerily, but Mike doesn't give enough of a fuck to stare at a creepy clock.
Especially not if it breaks open and goddamn spiders start crawling out
He finishes his cigarette and runs like hell. Wherever the butt lays is no concern of Mike's. Finding Dustin is. He knows Dustin will be pissed that he ditched him to smoke with Max.

"You know him?" Thanos asks as he tries to think of his own lyrics to go with the track that's still playing. "He produce for real, or is this a favor type thing?" Doesn't matter either way. Thanos has got a damn gift when it comes to getting people to do shit for him.
"That's the thing," Semi groans with a downright strange amount of frustration. "The guy's name is Namgyu, I'm pretty sure, and he's a composer. Like, the classical stuff at the beginning, that was his."
Thanos nods, even though he doesn't really get why she's saying this shit like she's reading him a prison sentence ending in the electric chair. "Soo...?" He asks slowly. "If he made that, he can definitely do the producing shit, too. It's just a different genre." It's true. As long as he's got an ear for what's good, and knows how to work the fancy ass machines, then Thanos should be solid.
"Well, the issue is that he would never do it," she shrugs.
"He'd do it for me," Thanos waves off. It's not even cocky or some shit. All he's got to do is hook the guy up with girls or drugs or an oil change, and he should be fine. "Why wouldn't he?"

Summary
The terrible, awful thing about finally getting what he wanted — namely, Mike — is that now he wants more, the selfish creature that he is. When he was younger, he’d been able to convince himself that kissing Mike, just once, would be enough to last him a lifetime. Foolishly, he’d thought that he could relish that single kiss and live a peaceful life, one where Mike was still his friend and nothing changed but his feelings would dissipate.
Instead, they grew; they’re still growing, Will fears, growing bigger and bigger each time Mike and him get together, because every sound Mike makes when Will kisses him makes Will want to find ten more little gasps and whines and groans, and each time Mike twists their fingers together and pants against his skin Will thinks about how much better it is than the time before.
will and mike are - something, and will's not entirely sure what. whatever they are, he wants more, but he's not sure if he can have it.
