Bal's family have opinions on Ambrosius. Two visits to Bal's childhood home: before he and Ambrosius get together, and after the wall comes down.
‘Okay, seriously,’ Bal says, tipping his head back against the headboard. ‘I think you’re overthinking this. I’m gonna wear a t-shirt.’
Ambrosius sighs, arms dropping to his sides. ‘So you’re saying if I show up in this I’m gonna look overdressed?’
‘No, I’m saying my family absolutely couldn’t care less what you wear, and they’re gonna love you like I do whatever.’
Ambrosius gives him a long look Bal can’t decipher—he’s been looking at him like that a lot recently, Bal thinks, but he’s not sure why—and then turns back to the closet.
