Summary
Dainsleif Rudava is renown as one of the most successful and reliable military lieutenants in all of Teyvat. Joining the military at just 17, Dainsleif was a prodigy in both gunfire and sword fighting. Naturally, he earned respect throughout his career and eventually climbed up the ranks to become a military lieutenant. His name remains as a silent legend throughout Teyvat as the "Twilight Sword".
However, when his best friend Halfdan, who works for the FBI, goes missing, Dainsleif is determined to find answers as to what happened to him. The FBI believes that maybe the Dark Abyss, a powerful mafia group, has either taken him captive or silence him permanently.
Either way Dainsleif is determined to find answers, even if that means throwing everything away:
his career, reputation, and even his own nameBut there's one problem, he's not the only one looking for answers.

After a long while of silence, Dainsleif sighed deeply.
"In that case, Outlander, let me tell you one more thing about the inteyvat,” he reached down and plucked two inteyvats from their stems. “Inteyvats last little more than two weeks before wilting. But if you were to pluck one and take it out of Khaenri'ah, the petals would harden."
As he spoke, he leaned closer, gently brushed her hair aside, and carefully wove one inteyvat into her hair. He heard her breathing quicken, saw her eyes dilating at how close his fingers were, nearly grazing her neck.
"Only when it finally returned to its home soil would the petals grow soft once more, and finally turn to dust," he continued, entwining the other inteyvat into her hair as well.
"Thus the Inteyvat is a symbol for a wanderer far from home, signifying the tenderness of the homeland," he finished softly, gazing into the Outlander's wide eyes.Series

helloo this is.. my first fic
[GONNA B continuous]
after the road not taken and 4.7 i've been left in absolute shambles and need more dain content and there is NONE so i am taking it upon myself.
this is gonna be a continuous slow burn story with dain accompanying lumine and paimon further into their travels because lumine is so done and is tired of him running away.
but maybe they can search for answers and find comfort in their absolute constant turmoil and distress.
or maybe fate is toying with them? how much do they really know?
majorly lore connected because i'm neurotic abt khaenri'ah and tevyat and the abyss.

For the first time tonight, Diluc feels comfortable. This space is calm, serene. Safe. Nothing like the fight they'd been in earlier. The night had been cold, but here it is warm, safely tucked away from the horrors that seem to lurk in every corner of their world. Diluc feels his racing thoughts finally slow to a halt, his senses focusing in on the feeling of Dainsleif's skin pressed against his own.

“So, what do you have for me?” Diluc pours Dainsleif yet another glass of wine, reserving the non-alcoholic grape juice base for himself. “Is it something regarding the abyss? I thought I had driven them out of the area by now, how annoying.” A low, good-natured laugh escapes Dainsleif’s lips, a twinkle of pleasure sparking in his eyes. He had always loved to tease Diluc like this, remaining enigmatic until he received what he wanted.
“Something more interesting.” He taunts, pulling a small object from his pocket. It was grey and cold to the touch, a small purple stone sitting in a smooth metal casing that emitted an almost haunting glow, not unlike the vision that sat on his thigh. Yet, the sight of this particular gem sent heat rushing from Diluc’s face, leaving him pale. Visions were supposed to represent people’s ambitions, awarded to those who sat in high favor with the gods. These stones, however, needed no special permission to be wielded, their power draining the users life in return. They were delusions, the same tool that took his father’s life.

It didn't get any less breathtaking since the first time Aether had seen it. In the middle of the room stood a huge canvas, towering almost to the ceiling.
It was a painting depicting a strikingly beautiful blue-haired man with an eyepatch, his only visible eye closed, and his head hung low.
