“Looks like I bit you.” Will tilts his head to get a better look. All Mike can do is stare at him. His fluffy hair at the front, clumped pieces at the back where he’d slid his fingers in a mere few minutes before. His pretty green eyes that look hazel or even brown in this light, the dark circles he gets when he drinks framing them like intricate paintings. A satisfied, bloody smile.
Mike isn’t satisfied. He swallows thickly, choking down the words 'don’t you want more?'
Or: Will dresses as a vampire for a college halloween party, but Mike thinks his costume isn’t bloody enough. Will lets him fix it. Mike goes into a crisis.

Summary
"Mike," Will says quietly, with the intention of saying something like 'it's okay' or 'crazy together' or 'you can tell us', and none of the things the jealous, bitter part of him is yelling, which are all variations of 'why wouldn't you tell me' and 'what could possibly be wrong and why are you so weird about everything, good Lord,' but the warring intentions cancel each other out and he winds up falling silent, simply tightening his grip on Mike's shoulder and widening his eyes meaningfully.
Mercifully, this seems to help anyway, because Mike takes a shaky breath and gives him a small smile, eyes locked on Will's as he straightens his spine and shifts a little on the couch. "I- um," he starts, and Will gives him a small nod. "I like boys," he chokes out, still staring right at Will.
Will freezes.

"So," Will says, swallowing and forcing back the pettiness coating the inside of his throat, "There is a girl, then?"
Mike glances away sheepishly, blushing and raising a hand to rub nervously at the back of his neck. "Um. Not exactly."
Will frowns. What else could it possibly be, he wonders, what with the hickeys and the evasive behavior and the coming home late, all of which Will is totally normal and not annoyed about. Maybe it was - he winces at the thought - a hookup that ended poorly, or a series of unrelated incidents, or-
"What is it, then?" he asks, if only to distract himself from this obviously destructive train of thought, and Mike meets his eyes nervously.
"There's not a girl," Mike repeats, sounding a little pained, "But there is- a boy."
The world stops.
In which Mike has a boyfriend who is not Will, and Will is totally, super, very much okay with this turn of events.

“And I think,” Mike tries again, voice scratchy, eyes still locked on Will’s, “that that sort of thing is just- kind of irreversible, when you think about it. And no matter what happens, there’s a part of you that always stays stuck on that person.”
It’s funny, Will thinks, as he stares blankly back at Mike, how neatly it lines up. Maybe he and Mike are too similar for their own good. Maybe everyone does feel it the same way after all, no matter how different they are, or maybe it’s just him and Mike who love this intensely, and the universe is just torturing Will for fun with the knowledge that it will never line up for them in the one way that matters.
Mike clears his throat, blushing furiously. “Um. Anyway, can I kiss you?”
