Summary
While hunting for tomes Martyn comes across a strange book. It isn't anything like the holy books he was looking for but he takes it anyway.
He returns to town to show what he found. They open it to see what's inside only for several pairs of wings dotted with eyes and surrounded by purple mist to whisk them away.

Summary
Scott Goldsmith has spent centuries becoming untouchable.
Then Martyn opens Jimmy’s grave, steals the artifacts Scott buried there, and brings them close enough to Oakhurst’s beacon to wake something old, hungry, and watching.

The town sees Scott before the castle, before the blood, before the monster they think they know.

Summary
When he finally comes back to reality, he was passed out on the floor. He was incredibly dizzy, and he felt sick. There was a constant dull throbbing in his head, as well as sweat beading on his forehead. He pushes himself off the floor, and only then does he realise that the king is in front of him, kneeling.
"What the hell happened?" Scar asks. "What was with your eyes? They went all purple!"
Grian lets out a small groan as he was yanked to his feet. He clutches his head as the contents of his vision sink in. His eyes widen and he whips his head towards the king's food. "The chicken," he whispers. He turns to the king before continuing. "You can't eat anything from the kitchen," he urges, grabbing the king by the arms.
"Tch. And why the hell not?"
"It's poisoned."
Scar's gaze snaps back to Grian. "And how do you know that exactly?"
"I- I can kinda sorta see the future," he explains quickly. "I'm not a witch! I'm an oracle! A- a- a uh- a prophet! Clairvoyant! A- a Watcher, a Seer! Whatever you want to call it!"

“Search the ruins! There may be life!”
Gem could hear a voice, strange but calm. She could hear people outside the rubble, searching for life after the incident.
“I don’t sense any survivors. The team has checked every building.” A voice belonging to Phantom, the #1 hero.
“Have you checked the cave behind the portal, Phantom?” The voice said.
The only reason why Gem survived. The cave was well hidden. Hidden enough that the monster didn’t even notice her breathing or heartbeat.
Gem jumped when leaves were pushed aside and threw her dagger at the intruder on instinct, just barely missing. The dagger G gave her.
“Damn… you have good aim. I’m going to ask Kuna about giving you a spot in the Milita.” Phantom muttered, barely dodging the dagger. “Where’s your parents?”
”Dead.” Gem’s voice was hard. “I don’t want to join the Milita anyway. They failed to save the village.”
Phantom raised an eyebrow, “No family at all? Aunts? Uncles? Siblings?”
Something compelled Gem to answer honestly.
”My older brother.” Gem whispered. “Grian.”
