    “Why would someone hurt themselves?” Leland asks as he and Pearl sit on the grass, his hands mindlessly picking at the blades beneath him as he rubs them between his fingers before smelling them.

    “Now, why is this the first question you’re asking me today?” Pearl jokes, and Leland just shrugs, unsure how to explain where the question came from.

    It’s been a while since Leland’s been sent to rehab to be “fixed” ever since he’s “killed” Ryan. The court decided that Leland was simply just… unstable, which is the reason why he killed Ryan. Absent father and mother, it was always those neglected after all.

    He likes the rehab center, he sees all the sad people around who are trying to heal the sadness away.

    Leland likes painting, he likes washing the fishies, he likes playing basketball, he likes dipping his legs in the pool, and a lot more. He has more freedom in the center than back home.

    He doesn’t want to leave. It’s perfect here.

    Then he meets Henry Letham.
