23:58 p.m, May 19th 2018 Enoch, Maine: On the local high school's gym, the senior students sat on uncomfortable wooden chairs, whispering giggles and comments of excitement as the lights dimmed down, ready to find out which of their classmates will wear the plastic crowns that have been carefully placed on top of a pedestal in the middle of the stage.
08:30 a.m, May 20th 2018 Enoch, Maine: 137 people are dead, 76 of them high schoolers belonging to the senior class. Telephone lines are lying on the road, wrecked cars decorate the streets and the high school has almost burned to the ground.
The authorities will blame it on a hurricane and the residents will agree, nodding in silence at the words while, inside of their minds, they are wishing that Gary Barkovitch burns in hell.

Stebbins had seasonal allergies. They were annoying, but tolerable with allergy meds.
But allergy meds were, frankly, a pretty penny. So when spring rolled around and his allergies started acting up, Stebbins decided to just tough through them instead of wasting money on them. It was fine, they were just allergies.

Summary
By the time he looked back Barkovitch's jaw was clamped down around Collie's shoulder, lips pulled back and teeth on display—it didn't look gentle, or teasing. It looked affectionate, yet needy. Maybe if it was anybody else, Pete could see it as friendly. Pete had been bitten by Hank more times than he can count, but it was always when he was trying to be annoying, an action taken after they'd been fucking with each other. This was different—Barkovitch has just done this unprompted and he doesn't initiate touch unless he feels like he won't be rejected. It's why, when he's drunk, he always goes to Harkness, who'd hold just about anyone if they asked him to, or Stebbins, who is awkward about it, but clearly cares about Barkovitch enough to reciprocate, or Collie who…well, apparently who he's got something going on with.

Collie truly looked like a mess — hair probably in knots from the loose bun he pulled it back with that sat at the lower nape of his neck, free strands circling his jaw, dark bags under bloodshot, tired eyes, and a wobble of his lower lip that threatened to spill tears, so even if by some miracle Pete didn’t know, he could take a shot in the dark.
Because it felt like someone had ripped his fucking heart from his chest.
And Pete was patient, kind, but stern when he advised with his arms crossed, “Alright, Parker. Start from the beginning.”

Summary
Collie reads cards from friends and classmates, letting the time pass by. Halfway through, he finds one that catches his attention: It's a simple white paper, folded in four, without anything written on it. Intrigued, Collie takes it and unravels it, being met with a tight, neat handwriting that reads the following message:
Collie:
I don’t know why I’m writing this, but I just needed to let it out I guess:
You’re the coolest person in the whole grade.That’s all
Collie stares at the message for a few seconds, reading it again and again. Despite how brief it is, something about those 27 words (not counting his name) sticks with him
