Six months in and the New Avengers had fallen into a routine with only a few bumps in the road. And being in charge of them isn't too hard. All things considered, Bucky thought being a leader wasn't so bad. Summary
Jayce was staring at the wall when Viktor found him, stubble already overgrown, hair shorn. He looked broken, fragile. A lost little boy thrown to wolves. Viktor had the ridiculous urge to pull him close, stroke his hair, and let him fall asleep in his lap, safe from harm. He didn’t know the man, only his journal.
“I hope I am not interrupting,” Viktor said, halfway between the dark humor of his home and Piltover politeness.
Jayce’s hazel eyes swung to him, bloodshot and puffy. He shook his head once, slowly, as if he were ashamed. The urge to cradle him grew stronger, a living thing in his chest.
Jayce is thrown into Stillwater after his experiment kills a teenage girl. Viktor finds his journal and becomes obsessed, retreating to Zaun to continue his work with the help of his old mentor. He never quite gives up hope that Jayce will escape and find him so that they can perfect his work.
