Mario was leaning back in his chair now, one arm slung over the backrest, whatever tension that existed from the day worn down into something softer and less guarded. His words came a fraction slower and just a touch heavier.
Fox, for his part, wasn’t much different. Still composed but his insufferably smug smirks came easier.
“You know,” Mario said, gesturing vaguely with his glass, “you talk a lot about assessment for a guy who boasts about flying directly into laser fire.”
Fox snorted. “It’s calculated laser fire.”

The green frog had been listening intently to Gonzo’s struggle, but his last sentence made the green frog wince.
"Y'know," Kermit sighed, deeply, "You got really lucky, Gonzo... That explosion could've..."
He stopped himself, but Gonzo could see where his friend's thoughts were.

It had been a difficult few weeks for Gonzo the Great.
The nightmares, the consuming feeling of loneliness, being ridiculed by his friends, getting kidnapped by government agents, almost being experimented on, and longing for his alien family so he wouldn’t be alone forever.
Needless to say, the blue whatever was completely exhausted.
Still, he couldn’t help but wonder what his alien family really thought of him staying on earth instead of joining them in space.And during one particularly conflicted cold night, Gonzo saw them again.

“Hey, this is nice!” Gonzo, ever the free-spirited nutcase, chirped.
Fozzie was not as easygoing as he hugged his teddy bear to his chest, with a worried expression on his usually jolly face.
Kermit sighed, giving up on the optimism. “Can somebody turn off the light?”
Hearing the sound of a lightbulb breaking and the darkness flooding through the cracks of the fold-down bed confirmed that someone up there was taking pity on the dutiful frog.
“…Thank you.” Kermit said softly.
This was going to be a long and unpleasant night.

“Uh, yes, it is. Who is this?” Kermit asked, his politeness masking his growing worry.
“I am Elizabeth Marks. I am calling you from administration at General Hospital downtown.”
Kermit could feel the dread growing in his stomach as he rapidly tried to remember each of his friends’ locations.
“According to our paperwork, you are listed as an emergency contact for a-um, Gonzo...”
Kermit was out of his seat and rushing out of the theatre before she even finished her sentence.
