    “Shinsou.” The man introduced himself, seemingly having already lost interest as he turned to the shelves in front of him.

    “Right. Sorry, Mr. Shinsou. I’ll just go back to…” You glanced around you frantically, realizing you had just been lying on the floor with no intention of looking at books. You picked up a random book from next to you. “... Uh, Quantum physics for morons.” You winced. Very convincing. Turning to flee the opposite way down the aisle of books, you were stopped by the stranger’s voice.

    “I guess you really are rude, after all,” he drawled, still not looking at you. “Hearing my name and not returning yours.”

    “Oh?” You tilted your head and raised your eyebrows; your mouth tugged into a grin. “That’s it? And here I thought you were trying to flirt with me, Toshi.”

    He chuckled, looking away and shaking his head. You tried to not let the vibration of his sound waves get to you, you were making sure it was his turn to get embarrassed.

    “You caught me, you caught me.” He put his hands up in mock surrender. He took another swig of his drink and made direct eye contact, eyes half-lidded. “I just thought my real thoughts shouldn’t be said aloud.”

    It was a known fact in the halls of UA that the weird and quiet second-year hero student, Shinsou Hitoshi, was always frank with his feelings, and he also never cared about other people’s feelings. It’s been a few years being friends with him, and over those few years, you could easily debate that fact. He was the sweetest person ever, just... a bit clueless when it came to things like that.

    But he wasn’t completely illiterate on things like that. He just approached it a different way.

    It was a known fact in the halls of UA that the happy and bubbly second-year hero student, ____ ___, was the only person scary and unfeeling Hitoshi yielded to. It seemed weird that two clashing energies, gloom and brightness, went with each other. But what did they know? Rumors weren’t important. And Hitoshi would rather ignore them than entertain them.

    After all, he was happy like this. Being with you and spending time with you. That was enough for him.
