There was no turning back now. Ichiro had ran away from his father to get away from being forced into the war effort, and was being smuggled out of Europe by Kuko. He and his brothers were leaving France, possibly for good. They’d be stranded in the Atlantic in hiding for 6-10 weeks, if what Kuko told him could be trusted.

Samatoki took a breath from his cigarette. Sasara was annoying. But he didn’t have anywhere else to go. He sighed. “Do you wanna come over?”
“That’s-”
“Forget it.” Samatoki stood up.
“No!” Sasara jumped up and grabbed his arm. “That’s really sweet Samatoki, I’d love to.”
He paused. “And just to make sure- this isn’t any kind of weird offer or any kind of shit, okay?”
“Obviously.”
