Summary

Under false pretenses of security, the Soviet and British Empires march across the desert. They claim Persia to be a weak and ancient state, harboring threats that both nations demand be expelled. Like many imperial nations, however, their true motives are those of greed, trying to make the country bend the knee to unfavorable oil and railway deals.
Fareed Behzad is a captured Iranian soldier; a messenger intercepted in his attempt to warn another regiment of the movements of the invading troops.
As he faces what seems like his inevitable end, he is approached by a member of another faction who has also been impacted by the war. They are old and they are powerful, but they too are teetering on the brink, just as his own country is.
They offer him a chance to escape his fate, and to turn things around for both their sides.

Gregor has long had various…struggles…due to his military-grade genetic enhancements. On the plus side, since taking his leave of the former G Corp and joining Limbus Company, he’s managed to get at least some of the worst ones under control.
However, on their way to District 21 and the Great Lake, Mephistopheles has a small breakdown, and in the middle of the summer heat to boot. And the longer it takes Faust to fix the bus, the more one of Gregor’s *particular* problems gets worse, and the more his restraint is pushed to its limit.
Especially around a certain Sinner No. 9…

Until her own father barely recognized her. Until she as good as died out in the Capital Wasteland the same day he did. Until it felt like there was nothing real left of her, only legends and nightmares.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, and all that other crap they used to teach back in the Vault chapel. The Bible was a big hit down there, given it was one of the few things they had to read.
...then again, the Bible also had one of the best comeback stories in it too, now didn’t it?

The sheet which had previously covered the reflective surface of Yesod’s bathroom mirror sits on the sink counter. The white fabric meticulously folded, given all the deference and respect that a ritual of this magnitude deserves.
Yesod stares into it and slowly begins to unbutton his shirt. He makes it three buttons in before stopping dead in his tracks.
