Summary

Her actual bed, in her own apartment, and not anywhere here in Charlotte’s even though Shona spent twenty minutes looking for them.
“What?” Charlotte startles. Shona’s face slips into a grin and Charlotte closes her own laptop. Her legs are stretched out across Shona’s lap, Shona’s laptop over her calves. She shifts slightly and one of Shona’s hands curls over her ankle.

Summary

A secret contract was made, arranging a marriage between Kara Zor-El, Princess of Krypton, and Lena Luthor, Princess of Thorul, and now the two girls have to hold up her end of the bargain or risk losing their titles and lives of luxury if they don't.
Begrudgingly, the two girls have no choice but to agree to the arranged marriage, and the fake relationship then ensues in the public eye. It's not as easy as it seems though, to bluff their way through a relationship with the whole world watching, and Kara and Lena are too stubborn for their own good, finding themselves butting heads at every turn. Especially when feelings and pride get thrown into the mix.

“I’m saying that queer women have a special affinity for it,” Lena repeats, fishing the cherry out of the bottom of her drink. “The whole ‘falling for your straight best friend’ is basically a rite of passage.”
“Says who?”
“Everyone.” She puts the cherry in her mouth, bites it off the stem. “The L Word was like, built on the premise that a friend group of queer woman in LA dated each other in some sort of terrible repeating circle for, god, however many seasons that went on. And it’s been my experience that when two people are attracted to each other, and they’re close, feelings are likely to develop.”
“That’s just, I mean, come on.” Kara’s cheeks are a little pink. “A trope and a tv show? That’s your evidence?”
“So you’ve never been in love with your best friend?” Lena looks down at her empty glass.
“No!” Kara sounds affronted. “No, I have never been in love with my best friend.”

Her hands are in her pockets and her head is dipped forward, but her eyes are looking up at Lena, and there’s an air of uncertainty to her that Lena hasn’t seen in nearly a year. It steals the breath from her lungs and the words from her mouth, and her lips part wordlessly as they watch each other across the threshold.
“Hi,” Kara says softly.
Her weight shifts to rest unevenly on one leg as she looks at Lena, and Lena remembers how easy it was to talk to her, once.
