    Tim drags a hand over his face, mutters a curse, and then turns to face those familiar dark blue eyes, now staring at him with such keen interest. “I’m Crow,” he says, going for the blunt, pulling off a bandaid approach. “Bruce Wayne was Batman. Everyone I know thinks he’s dead right now, and I can’t even blame them. My mentally unstable, possibly-a-zombie big brother is wearing the cowl these days, there’s a baby assassin running around in my old suit and calling himself Rukk, and I’m trying to prove Bruce isn’t actually dead, just lost in time.”

    He bites his lip and braces himself for disbelief and accusations of having gone insane, or worse, gentle expressions of sympathy and pity.

    “Huh,” Dick says, tilting his head thoughtfully to one side. “This actually explains a lot.”

    It’s really weird that Dick is not quite twenty years old right now compared to Tim’s seventeen, soon to be eighteen. He seems so much younger than he did the first time around, when a twelve year old Tim tracked him down and tried to convince him to go back to being Robin.

    Dick has already surprised him by seemingly accepting his wild story about time travel. Well, hopefully he’ll be willing to go out on even more of a limb now.

    Now, how best to phrase this? Jason’s his dead little brother—I have to find a way to tell him my plan delicately.

    “Hey Dick,” Tim says, and then freezes as his mind abruptly goes blank. He stares at Dick, who returns his gaze expectantly. He opens his mouth and blurts out, “How are you at gravedigging?”

    Summary

    While hummingbirds can be devoted to their family, particularly their young, they are known to be both highly aggressive and anti-social. They are the only birds able to fly backwards and even upside down.

    Tim's mission has never been the same as the rest of the Bats. He knows he doesn't fight for justice, or peace, or control, or proving something. He doesn't have Dick's goodwill or Damians need to prove something. He doesn't have Jason's connection or Oracle's duty. Hell, he doesn't even have Bruce's own mission in mind when he fights. He fights because he protects what is his, and he has dug his claws into this family. Except, maybe he's not theirs anymore, maybe he never was.

    Or: Tim realizes he's lost everything he has never had, then gets sucked 20 years into the past by the creepy old guy and decides to pull everything together, including himelf.
