    Summary

A mysterious, stubborn virus infiltrates Caine's systems, forcing him to utilize some rather desperate measures in a reckless attempt to keep the circus, and himself, online. He attempts to fix it, ends up somewhat successful, and pretends like everything is fine as a result. See? He's not dying! He can handle this just fine on his own. He didn't need Kinger, or anyone for that matter, rummaging around in his delicate code.

That is, until he wakes up one day covered in digital blood, surrounded by the mutilated bodies of his favorite humans.

    Summary

As the circus starts to fall apart around them and Bubble begins to cannibalise every bit of coding he can devour, the group realises they need Caine to hold everything together. The question is whether they can find a way to fish him out of the recycling bin or if it's too late to save their A.I. ring master from complete deletion.

    -------------

A wave of horror seemed to ripple over the group as the reality of the situation began to sink in. Pomni risked glancing around the greying, glitching circus.

“Everything’s falling apart. Is this going to happen to the whole circus, I mean.. what do we do?”

Kinger gripped the edge of the bucket over his head, wary that lifting it might still remove his cognitive function. He risked a peek at where entire sections of the floor had already fallen away into nothingness.

“...Caine created all of this. If we want it to stop collapsing, we need him back.”

There was a problem. An issue, a minor error. Something in the code that clearly wasn't working correctly.

What if after the events of episode 7, Caine decides that the players unhappiness and general issues with the circus are his fault, and he goes about fixing that in the worst way possible.

    Summary

Being encased further into a delusion of his own making, craving intimacy and human connection, all the while sabotaging it with a lack of transparency, and the others forcing walls between one another because of "boundaries", a facade, a need to self-protect. Human emotions were not meant to be understood by mere code, mere 0's and 1's, running endlessly in an artificial world. Caine could never truly understand what it was to be human. He was never meant to.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the wake of Caine's most recent adventure, information about the past and past events begins to resurface, forcing everyone to confront their own ghosts, which they have run from for so long. Alternatively, you can't run from the past; eventually, you have to turn around and face it, no matter how hard or insurmountable it may seem.

Sometimes the hardest things in life are looking back on our own mistakes, but choosing to become a better person.
    And to keep moving forward.

The cast must reconcile their pasts and find peace within themselves, as they explore what their lives were outside of the circus, and perhaps a way to leave.

    Summary

The escape was fake. The hope wasn’t.

    Everyone’s paying for it.

Even with his own mind fractured, Kinger is trying his best to hold the others together. Being a supportive presence is difficult when you’re barely present yourself, especially when certain people are showing all the signs of abstraction but refuse to say a word about it.

Jax is trying to keep everyone at arm’s length, but they just won’t stop reaching and every hand feels like it’s closing around his throat.

Pomni is still adjusting to her own digital existence as she tries to hang on to those she cares about, and Caine’s increasingly strange behavior isn’t really helping. She isn’t the only one starting to notice that their ringmaster AI has more beneath his perpetual showman’s smile than they’d ever thought to even look for.

How do you even make an AI understand that you can’t love something into stability? That love is the very thing breaking it?

Well, the humans are going to try anyway.

    Because what else is there?
