Years ago, Vos fell to Praxus in a conflict that nearly resulted in planetary war. The entire Vosian royal family was killed, but rumors persist to this day that a Prince of Vos still lives. None of that really matters to Detective Jazz, though, except that a body just showed up in his territory with some curious words scrawled on the wall behind the corpse. And for some reason, his secretary Starscream is acting more surly than usual.

“So you see, it was for the best that stupid arrangement fell through. We both get to do what we want, do we not?” Starscream asked, his intake curled into that all too familiar grin.
A grin Rodimus had grown to love so much.
“Yeah, yeah… I guess.” Rodimus responded, clear he didn’t believe it himself.

Years ago, Rodimus was called back to Cybertron to fulfill an ancient duty. That was, to continue the lineage of the Primes by way of binding himself to the Chancellor, Starscream. While the arrangement was not ideal, Starscream attempted to commit to it, Rodimus on the other hand, could never dream of binding himself to Starscream. Luckily for him, with intervention from Optimus, Rodimus was freed of his duties.
All seems to go well, his life is better but he still thinks of Starscream from time to time as things weren’t that bad between them.
Yet, when he sees Starscream again and the two decide to catch up, Rodimus cannot help the feeling of what could have been, but won’t ever be.

Summary
After Megatron abandons the Lost Light crew and gets stuck in an alternate dimension, Rodimus finds he has more to worry about than just losing him; he's carrying his sparkling. Spark-broken and desperate, Starscream of all mechs proves to be his saviour. He wants to overwrite Megatron's coding with his own and take care of both Rodimus and his sparkling. From this strange arrangement, they find within the other a kindred spirit. Both touched and tainted by Megatron, they find solace in the other's love. They form an unlikely family and it would have been domestic bliss if an unexpected development didn't threaten to uproot all they'd created.
